MTNL Broadband: ADSL light on, but no internet connectivity

Problems seem to have been solved but that's only because my DL is now synced to 507kbps instead of the previous 2048 . This page requires 2 'refreshes' to be visible. Am not happy with this crappy 'solution'. Trust MTNL to find a 'solutions llike this. At this speed Aitel broadband combo pack is cheaper for me.

BTW your lline attenuation is far to high & SNR is too low

This is the 'solution' MTNL has found . That is why I asked the others whose problems have been solved, to check their sync rate . I noticed that there are still many packets drops now, it was ok in the morning. I think there are working on the problem.:hysterical: Speedtest.net also gives an error coz of it.

Socrates, raise hell about being downsynced with all and sundry at MTNL. Send emails to all the GMs/EDs and also the CMD. I suffered this a year back and after hammering them with emails for 3-4 days the problem got fixed.

I got a call just now promising that the sync rate will be increased, no one has an explanation why all the 'April problems' many of us had stopped when I was down synced. Even my overmetering that has been hounding from last Aug (2008) seems to have stopped. Now when they increase the sync rate I will have to observe again.

'April Problems' are defined as follows
1) Can access the D-Link settings page for only about a minute after switching on the modem, after that the browser gives an error that page cant be displayed.
2) My mail too can’t be downloaded into the email client (Mozilla Thunderbird), Sometimes I have observed that it may download if checked as soon as the modem stabilizes after some time, it will also give 'timed out' (I have set it at 180sec in the email client). Strangely this seems to coincide with the access of the modem page????? (Point 1.)
3) Many sites can’t be accessed at all like

http://www.opendns.com/
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
& others like
http://www.icicibank.com/ & its login page
https://secure.icicidirect.com/customer/logon.asp and many other bank sites
open after a v long time which increases the chances of getting timed out by the site.
4) Cant log into MSN Messenger
5) Even if I use OpenDNS servers the result is the same & makes no difference to my mail download or browsing experience.
6) Poor speeds have also been observed. I used to get 1.76mbps download before 1st Apr

Guys just to update, I went to kandivali MTNL and asked for the latest router but they declined that they only give new modems to New orders and existing customers will get old modems. Is this right? can I force them to give me latest modems?2. I got UT-300R2U T-KD 318-EUI (white color) from them. It this a good one? Can anyone point me to its latest firware upgrade. The current firmware version is ADSL Firmware Version: E.37.5.3 .I am facing terrific connectivity issue and I overheard MTNL guys taking about some cable damage thingy so this is definately not a D-Link specific issue as the same problem exists even after UT-300R2U modem use. The ADSL lights comes and goes at every blink of the eye....randomly. Spoke to DGM office. Lets see.awaiting ur replies.

Same here, not able to open up the Modem page for D-Link 502-T, but there aren't any disconnection and my sync speed is at DL- 2048 kbps and UL- 256 kbps.And since these problems have again surfaced yesterday, not able to open link-removed directly. Using K-Tunnel or V-Tunnel for that purpose.And how come some of u guys r getting 512 kbps as upload speed when MTNL says upload speed for all the plans is 256 kbps.:madness:
