Applied for Freedom 800 plan on my existing mtnl number. Since I have got my own modem + wifi router and therefore I dont want their modem so I told them I dont need their modem as the lady executive told me that 75/- monthly charges will be added to the bill for modem but she said that there is nothing she can do as the form she is filling dont give any option for modem and I should talk to the person who comes for installation. Lets see if this modem issue causes any trouble and ya speed too as I read in previous posts that night speeds are not upto mark........

I think you have been totally misguided/misinformed.

Also there are no charges for any installation or testing etc check this Broadband where they have extended the promotional offer for freedom plans
i got this plan last month on an existing number and you wont believe that it was functional within 2 hours! because i had my own modem router. only thing i got done was got it rewired so that there is one wire from pole to router. Also they have my plan functional from 9th nov and there billing cycle is from 1st to 30th so my bill for last month was less than 700 after all taxes since they adjusted on pro rata basis. Also got 100 calls free for the landline.
only mistake mtnl did was that they initially billed me rupees 300 as activation and testing charges which i got rectified after showing the advertisement to the accounts officer.
i am greatly pleased with mtnl in my area as speeds are as promised during the day (infact around 550kbps). only issue is that during nights they do not deliver full 2mbps. it is around 1.8. but then whenever i have restarted my router around 8-830pm at night i get the speed switch over( technically the plan states it to happen after 11pm at night)and best part is no FUP like airtel(i switched over from them)
i can't expect more from any isp for 800 plus taxes (total less than 900).greatly pleased with mtnl in south delhi (hauz khas)

I told the call center lady that I dont need modem but she said I need to speak to the guy who comes for installation for this modem thing; so what could I have done

I thought she might be telling it rightbetter for go for freedom plan is case of new installtion( where lanline is not there) as MTNL is giving free installation and activation etec.i booked on 13.12.11 and their person come next day and collected the docs, erlier i was hesitant to took connection from MTNL but lady at 1500 suggested me to go for freedom 795 as everthing is exempted except monthly charges , later one can change to other plan .MTNL is best in case of service

I am not taking new connection, just taking broadband on my existing mtnl number but ya I do opted for freedom plan, Freedom 800 to be precise. I registered on 13/12/2011 morning but nothing as of now. Hope they make it quick as my current airtel broadband will go down on coming monday.

It got installed today but I am facing a typical problem now. The net runs fine for 4-5 mins thn go down and doesnt work for 1-2 mins and after that it returns to normal for 4-5 mins and goes down again for a couple of mins (its repeating and happening non-stop). The four lights on the modem remains same whether net is up or down (data led and one on the side of it blinks as data transfers but when link goes down they both also becomes stable) . I am using UT300R2U modem and D-Link DIR-300 for wifi.Any idea why this is happening - mtnl backend problem, telephone line or connection problem or modem/wifi router problem?

I have upgraded from 599 to 800 NU plan. It just got updated today so I'll post my review in a few days...I can only tell you that in my area that is Rohini Delhi, MTNL is providing good services and speed is as promised..

Call at 1500, thats it. From First of next month yr plan will be changed keep yr CA No., Customer account number with u while calling
