Umm.. 15k range wud be good in future if u can flash it. Because otherwise future versions of Android may not support 10k hardwares.

Even I have same 2 questions with additional query

1) Can Android phone's be upgraded manually? How easy it wud be?
2) If you upgrade and there is problem with phone (hardware or software), can you downgrade it back to OEM's version?

yup I think u can degrade it back ...just put phone in recovery mode...or main reset it should do it..

btw. ICW would probably be Android 4.0 and not 2.4. It would update Android 3.x devices too.
