see my friend...any stb..like dish, big tv,sun, tata any stb will work with ntsc tv...and also it works fine with normal av cable...i have a Philips lcd which i got it from usa...which dont have pal system...i connected with dish tv,.it works fine...later i connected with big tv...sun direct...now i am using videocon...it doesnt matter whether u r having pal or ntsc.....it matters only when u use u r normal cable...but u r using stb and av cable..its just like playing a dvd in ur tv...thats it...no need of change of any settings...just connect it to the av..its like plug n play
No it will not work if the TV supports only NTSC. I think your TV is supporting both PAL and NTSC ( Multisystem ) . If the TV supports only NTSC, it applies to AV ( composite ) cable as well. The TV can not decode the PAL.
Dear tirumala83,I have samsung 40" which supports only NTSC format, i'm not able to connect any STB other than Dishtv which has VGA output. I have tried all the HD connection still i'm not able to find a solutions.
there is something wrong with the tv... ...because if u play a dvd in ur tv through dvd player it doesnt matter whether u r having pal or ntsc...we simply connect it through av cable and plays it...stb is also similar...one more example....old tvs used to have only 10 r 12 channels compatibility...when u use u r settop box u can paly 100s of channels in the same tv...because it palys through stb....every stb has a inbuilt tuner.....once u connected through av it works just like a computer monitor...thats it....check one more time by cooncting like regular tv....
But in most of the NTSC TVs ( sold in USA ) , PAL and NTSC also applies AV input as well. So, in my TV, it supports only NTSC through AV input as well. So, PAL STB does not work. It needs be converted to NTSC for display. However , my understanding is that for HDMI , PAL and NTSC does not apply at all. Only the refresh rate matters. So , if the STB can output HD 1080 resolution through HDMI @30fps , then it will work with NTSC TV models ( 60Hz ) . Hi Sendhil , Did you try Dish TruHD STB as well ? It has HDMI setting to output 1920x1080i@50Hz or 1920x1080i@60Hz. If you configure the output to 60Hz, then I believe it should work . If it does not, then there is no other way. Either live with old Dish TV SD STB VGA or buy a PAL HDMINTSC HDMI converter.
Dear Murali, I have tried with DishHD,Tata Sky HD and Sun HD its of no use not even recognizing the HDMI input . But it able to recogniz in av cable with same black and white. In India all STB are giving output as 720P with upscaling. Now i have ordered the Pal to Ntsc converter with HDMI out and upscaling of 1080P. That's the only option i have.:confuse:
