Planning for a new connection.

Sorry, but again, i'm here. There's a confusion. If i buy a wifi modem, can i connect it to my pc through wire? My pc doesn't have any wireless receivers, and the reason why i decided to buy wifi modem is keeping in mind my Xperia ray. Hope somebody'd give an answer. :)

Yes, most WiFi modems have at least 4 ethernet ports using which you can connect a minimum of 4 devices using ethernet cable independent of each other. I am using a WiFi modem and connect my desktop using an ethernet cable as it does not have a WiFi adapter.

Yes, that's correct !Most of these modems come with USB port as well, an additional facility to connect through USB.I hope, this removes your doubts now.

From where did 10mbps come into the picture ?D-Link is decent, my old router lasted me 7 years. It still works save a broken antenna. Belkin is also alright. I don't know about iball. How big is your place ?

It's a small house. Three small bed rooms. That's all. :) my friends here recommended me to go with D-Link. Also, i'd like to know whether my neighbours will be able to access my modem and if so, how can i secure it? Will all these be in the modem user guide?

Get a D-Link one then, but remember it wont be top of the line, but given the size of your house it should suffice. Regarding securing your router, its easy. Once you get your router, post here and someone will guide you.

Okay. The price range of the product is 2000-2500 as told by the retailer. Is it a normal price range or is he trying to fool me? I ask this because, i'd heard my friends saying they got modem from Bsnl in 1600-1800 range. So, i doubt the retailer. What's your opinion?
