Planning for a new connection.

Congrats :)You can try Networx or Bitmeter. Both are free and very efficient. Has graphs and statistics with lot of other options.

I tried downloading a file from microsoft server, i didn't look to the speed in the dialog box but arranged a stop watch and calculated the time taken to download the file. Unfortunately, i got the result as 200KBps. :( then i tried downloading from Avira's server. It's also 200 KBps. Then tried link-removed. It's also the same (infact a bit less, but around 190KBps). I guess i should get 240KBps, right?

What you got is the average speed, it will be around 80 % of maximum speed. If you are getting 200 KBps average, it is good according to BSNL standards.
