RBI wants you to fill the entire card details for every online payment

lol. tbh, his point is valid. retailers with low profit margin do suffer from visa and mastercard usage. here in gurgaon, i am yet to come across any shopkeeper who is not accepting visa or mastercard but is accepting rupay. upi of course makes sense because of zero transaction costs which means it is used even by thelas. they are not going to carry card machines anytime sooner because of the cost of the device and other fees.

one chemist here does not outright refuse to take card payments but does say it would be nicer if you just use upi. i try to use cash as much as possible but because of change problem, it does not always work out. it's crazy that we still do not have a 1000 rupee note. they have played the long game well and have made people used to paying through upi. it would all come back to bite us all in the coming years.

i really do not like paying for 10 rupee ciggies using upi. every transaction is an entry in my bank statement which i have to deal with at the time of making my balance sheet. this is why i am back to using Paytm wallet for smaller transactions as thankfully paytm still remains widely accepted in my locality.

everyone shd be given a choice thats it if rupay is so good and and giving better offers to customers then customer will take that as an addon too , forcing rupay to boost nos and not thinking what problems customer will face is pure unethical . But we all know the credit taker will do anything .

i also use rupay prepaid for daily chores and for online mostly if any offer comes

upi delays are another problems. it's fine if you are paying at a shop you regularly visit. but it is still very risky for payments at faraway shops or if you are outstation.

@Samuel recently faced this problem. ended up paying twice through upi at a restaurant because there was no confirmation at both ends after the first payment. he is yet to get a refund for the double payment.

rbi should be looking at making upi more reliable. yes it is better than early days. but it needs more protection. getting amitabh bachchan to broadcast psa messages about upi frauds during kbc is not good enough. you need to give consumers more protection. cards have that.

people are still sending payments through upi to wrong ids and losing that money. people are still getting duped by scammers who fool them into sending them money. not to mention how banking apps refuse to work if you have teamviewer or anydesk installed on your phone (sbi cards was mentioned by @Nishant here just few days ago). these is just being lazy. create a proper system in place for upi transactions. give people the opportunity to chargeback like they can with credit cards if you are trying to push it as an alternative for credit cards.

rtgs/neft/imps had a lot of friction for transferring funds online. this is why there were not many frauds happening before. on one side they have made taking out money from your bank so easy and on the other hand they are making it harder for credit card users to use the same card which has worked fine for more than 2-3 decades.

Apart from that don't RUPAY cards boost our economy a little bit if all the money and charges stays within India. JUST ASKING.
Yes, but Rupay and UPI should charge atleast 3% MDR and give offers and discounts to customers like Amex. Also Rupay needs to work with Visa and Master make Int'l transactions easy as possible.

here's hoping Amazon would get their shit in order sooner than later. i am fine with pay balance if they match the 5% cashback of their icici credit card lol. entering card details for every teeny tiny purchase is going to be annoying.

As a consumer all I care about is the benefits, convenience and security. Why issuing bank or platform would matter.

Like rupay has a good Amazon load offer every month I use my rupay card for that.

Upi is good for transaction with small vendors but it messes up the statement so I use it with my secondary bank account. Debit card also messes up the statement.

Most private banks push master or Visa for debit card even if i want rupay. For credit card rupay is not even an option where major big transactions go.

I have 5 cards and only 1 is rupay issued by hdfc, psu bank issued master card. Rupay is occasionally used for offers. Upi is used more than rupay for me.

If rupay goes international that's good, more options for consumers.

Retailers, banks everyone prefer which offers them more benefits. In some countries Amazon is pushing consumers to not use visa I think in Singapore and Australia.

Paytm has some chagreback option I think but never used it. There should be a standard policy for duplicate payments and chargebacks.

he is yet to get a refund for the double payment.
Good luck with that... Banks outrightly put your issue to least priority if you mention issues with transfers using digital wallets, at least with SBI, PNB. Personal experience. I use them only as a compulsion, not as a convenience.
