well lets not forget that dth,iptv,or any other broadcasting platform will never match dvd quality,if u download HD videos transmissions from BBC HD like the programme planet earth and compare that to the BLUE RAY version of the same there is a lot of difference because the bbc hd transmits at around 6mbps of video versus blue ray which is around 20mbps.
well not all dvd 9 uses the entire 8.5 gb of data i happen to have a one genuine dual layer FIFTH ELEMENT DVD but only 70% of the space is used that includes bonus hidden content.
so we can conclude that these dth and other provides when they say dvd quality they only mean the resolution ,i have said before that when i saw spider man2 in big
tv pay per view ch the quality was about 75% good of the 4.5gb pirated spiderman 2 played via
xbox.
the reason i feel big tv is better is because of the component out .
Well when the DTH providers say DVD quality picture they don't mean the data transmission rate, yes of course i understand that the image quality is ultimately dependent on the data transmission rate also, but DVD quality means 480p which is in other words a resolution of 852 x 480 pixels.
So then HD picture quality means either 720p, 1080p or even 1080i in some cases.
So again 720p = 1,280 x 720 pixels
1080p = 1,920 x 1,080 pixels
& 1080i just means a 720p is upscaled to 1080i
