@deignwebgraphic What Santosh says is true. We, living inside India, are blessed with strong DTH signals.. India-DTH players... But check with our guys living in Srilanka/Bangladesh etc.. who may not be having strong signals.. but a bigger dish would let them receive strong signals good enough to allow uninterrupted viewing

If small dish itself can give error free reception, then bigger dish will not make any difference. However, if the small dish is not capable of that, then there would be errors in reception which result into blocky, choppy or frozen audio/video. Weak signal may be due to rains or poor satellite coverage at in that region, obstructions in the line of sight etc. In such cases, bigger dish would help, but it can improve quality only upto the original recording. (no dish can transform SD recording into HD for sure:))

make it 20 of the june i just called to customer care.......bigtv with hdtv capability...........;)

Good question "icar" How can we come to know that a picture quality we are getting through a particular DTH is a DVD or a VCD quality? (Just from a pixellation and broken pictures or anything else too?)

The best way to judge quality is to know what encoding technology is used and how much bandwidth is allocated, for both audio and video. These parameters (especially the bandwidth) can vary from channel to channel and from time to time, like less important channel may be reduced in bandwidth in order to accommodate new ones. However, this information is not accessible to customers, may be because they think it is too technical or treat it as a "trade secret"

Dont we get to know about all these what you mentioned --- bandwidth is allocated, signals etc... through STB? Doesnt it show any such tech info when we switch on STB and TV?By the way, on which channel does STB start showing us a vision? (Eg: if we attach DVD, it runs on DVD channel on TV)
