Unless and untill that recipt which he has posted came from an official jio email id then its probably a scam involving some jio employees.

How did that app get the plan details?

That might be easy, they probably have the plans in the employee app. But there rental might be 0. So any employee can activate the plan. This is entirely speculative though.

They might be able to charge new customers as they are supposedly migrating everyone to a new paid platform. So it is possible that new customers can be directly placed on the paid platform. Whether it is ethical to do so with a free preview customer is a different matter. Let’s hope they find a way to migrate and not ask alll of us to get new connections.

Hi, I am the one who posted the tweet. You can put your queries here. Will try to answer them all. I have an ongoing Jio Fiber Gold plan. Btw, Apple TV plus app is now available on Amazon 4K fire stick and Jio 4K set box is still ridiculously dumb and a waste of expectations.

Jio has launched paid plans in Jaipur and I was among first 5 customers. Having said that, I find Jio plans absurd and I wish I continued with the free preview plan forever or as long as I could. A Jio official called me last evening in response to my tweet and apologized for the inconvenience caused. He stated that there is no information on launching of IPTV on Jio 4K set top box as of now. As of day, the set top box is rubbish - no Netflix, no Prime Video, no Zee5, no way to install 3rd party apps (the way you can do with fire stick- kodi etc.) The SonyLiv app is offered with free subscription but it buffers badly even with 250 mbps connection. Hotstar is offered with only VIP membership, you can’t watch any premium content. So it is a very bad situation here presently with Jio set top box. I am now paying INR 1299 + GST = INR 1600 appx. So, that’s the story.

@soulroute What's interesting is you're the first paying customer we know. I think everyone on this thread is still on free Jio 100 mbps plan, and nobody has heard anything from Jio regarding migration.

It may at least take a year for Jio to give connections with advertised speeds and decent latency.
