Hi, I am the one who posted the tweet. You can put your queries here. Will try to answer them all. I have an ongoing Jio Fiber Gold plan. Btw, Apple TV plus app is now available on Amazon 4K fire stick and Jio 4K set box is still ridiculously dumb and a waste of expectations.
can you share details of third party router they gave you and how you paid for it?

Lets hope that they don't ask all of the preview customers who have the white router to surrender their dual band router and buy a new connection with the single band router.
With this recent development, everything seems possible now.

I actually felt betrayed because they indirectly compelled me to close my free preview connection because they weren’t migrating any old customers. I had to take a new connection. And the box is shamefully annoying, sluggish with a shoddy interface. Even the remote is confusing. Most of the features on remote do not work. The set top box does not support 2160 @50 Hz. I tried so many times, it finally got to 2160 @25 Hz. My TVs support 50 Hz. There is no 4K content. Not even a demo or tutorial. In comparison, the 4K fire sticks by Amazon are fast, furious and highly responsive. The 4K set top box has no sockets except for power, LAN and a 3.5mm out I presume, so I am not sure as to how would they bring in RJ cable for TV viewing. Perhaps they have something else in mind, IPTV most likely. Further, they promised free subscriptions to all premium services such as Hotstar, ZEE5, Netflix, Apple TV Plus and Amazon Prime et cetera but the box doesn’t have anything worthwhile as yet. There is little point in providing Jio Saavn there. You don’t want to burn your tv listening to audio only stuff. There is a Jio Games app (beta version) with 3-4 games, worse than a 8-bit console. Ideally, Jio should offer quality games with an option of external controller pairing. The remote is so dark and dingy to find the power on and off key, let alone play games with it. How unthoughtful and preposterously silly! Hotstar merely has VIP subscription which is no good at all. Rest of the mentioned apps do not even exist.

To summarize, I would not recommend anyone to jump to paid plans. It’s a half-baked, raw and unprepared push by Jio. These are early days and I am sure Jio ought to revamp the existing 4K set top completely, both in terms of hardware and software. It looks ugly in its present form, like a cheap paper-weight from 60s.

They did not give me any 3rd party router. I opened my new Asus dual band router brought from USA to connect with. The point is, one must make additional investment to go beyond 50mbps or else rely on LAN for 100mbps. Now I am getting 250 mbps on 5ghz frequency in every corner of my house because mine is a fairly costly router with a Jio monthly gold plan. It’s absolute shame that Jio doesn’t even have a dual band router for its paid customers.

No they won’t. They will allow everyone to migrate with what all they have except for the refundable deposit which would be reduced by INR 1000 (now counting that as non refundable installation charge). They will migrate everyone eventually. They ought to make money ASAP, yeah? They just duped me to open their paid plan sales innings. The have assured full refund on the earlier plan provided the router was still brand new (fortunately it is because I bought the free preview offer connection only a week earlier). I opted for the paid plan hoping 4K set top box would surely have some HD/4K live channels, free subscriptions and IPTV etc. which I was falsely promised to me. Unfortunately I stand disappointed. As a matter of fact, not even installation team had seen this 4K set top box before. It was their maiden installation. Lol. Wow! How very silly and funny!

So whoever wants to close their free preview connection for whatever reason, keep your router and wires etc. absolutely clean and tidy. Else perish the thought of refund.

Obviously yes. Besides, I strongly feel that a 250 mbps plan burns data faster than a100 mbps plan even while watching similar content. Theoretically it does not appear logical, but I have a very strong hunch after several observations. I also noticed that Airtel V Fiber plans spend data rather slowly compared to Jio Fiber. Now who is fooling whom is for the God or Mukesh to decide.

@soulroute First of all I would like to Thank you for registering here on this forum and helping everyone out by giving more insights.

Yes, they duped you but I am sure since you are amongst the first few paying customers, they will listen to your complaints and address them soon, or atleast give you a more realistic view.

@lucifer obviously STB will use the data from FUP for each and every stuff you use on that box. Even the IPTV when launched will use your FUP. The only exception could be the cableTV if it gets delivered via the coaxial cable.

I don't think the plans would change and they are very desperate to earn money quickly. So they will try to force preview customers to take this useless plans.

And they will try to snatch extra ₹1000 from the early preview customers ( those who got before 5 September ) at the time of migrating to paid services by re-booking it as new connection making it only ₹1500 refundable !

They will also try to frustrate the customers who are willing to surrender the connections by saying that ONT is not in good condition and getting our deposit money back is not going to be easy...
