Setting up Vonage with BSNL

check from 782 to 796 I check my last 3 month usage, this kind of usage is there in all of the month not only 10 or 20 times it is in 100's for every month whenever the phone is not in use, and if even the phone is in use it show as half hour increment usage not actual timeing
 
not much avg 130 KB , may be checking connection status and keeping "live". Say if you keep the connection on for 16 hours a day apprx 2.0 MB/per day extra count.In Home 500 plans Nu is free( 0200-0800) and D/L U/L 2.5 GB or Home 750 U/L 24 hours. 256 Kbps speed seems Ok as reported here . for Vonage Voice quality.
 
thanks, essbebe, right now I am on 250 pl about to change to 500 mo. I already change my vonage voice quality month ago from 90kbs to 30 kbs and its working just fine on my 250 plan Before my parents use to keep connection ON for 24/7 but since this huge bill issue happen they only trun it on when they want to place call and then turn it off. but I sill dont unsderstandt let say connection is On for like 6 hours why usage only show half hour increment usage, even out of 6 hours let say we talk for 1 hour's it only show half hour increment is it normal
 
probably the usage meter is programmed to take readings every half hour, when modem is On and connected to internet ( but connection is kept on ) Say you surf from 0825 am to 0827it will merge in 0800 - 0830 reading etc.We were having many problems with the usage meter for the past six months, and now onlysome stability is seen and less complaints for Ip 117.xx.xx.xx.Apply now itself ( give written application ) to change over to Home500 from July1st.In the night switch off around 0155AM and restart at 0205AM and again switch off at 0755 AM.( you know the reason now )
 
Im using BSNL Broadband 750 unlimited and Connected to my vonage device.But My Vonage Device Gives me this message and i get no Dial tone"vonage device is not properly connected to the vonage network drive and not able contact the vonage network"-Error Code 04Can you help me? If anybody has any similar issue

can you access the Vonage Unit ?

Was it set in U.S ? Do you have a U.S number ?
Firstly check your BSNL modem is configured , to connect to Internet.
Enable DHCP in modem. Range 192.168.1.2 to 198.168.1.254 ( or less )
Then change the RJ45 to Vonage unit.
Phone line =>splitter++>ADSL Modem==>>Vonage Unit==>> Phone 24hours on

I have connected a wifi router for laptop from Vonage Port . ( when required )
My unit VonageVDV21-VD ( I cannot access because I I don't
have the userID and password )

To save yourself some time, please try the two following things before calling into us if you have no dial tone.

1. Give the device a reboot before calling. Just unplug the power, wait 15 seconds, plug the power back in and give it 2-3 minutes.

2. Make sure you can go online to www.google.com and can search for something you've never searched for before. If you're not able to you may be having an internet outage and a call to your ISP may be required.
 
well the basic settings are 1) ensure DHCP is enabled( as mentioned by essbebe)2) ensure that you are in ppoe mode . i.e. internet works as soon as you switch on your modem..
 
Thanks so much for your help essbebe and superprash2003 I set my Vonage in US before taking to India and it has a US Number And im able to coonect to internet I used the url-192.168.15.1 to log into Vonage and i clicked status and On the configuration server it says that device couldnt reach configuration server. Also how do u Enable DHCP in modem.-i did a ipconfig/all and it says dhcp is enabled-is this right way of checking? Also i dont know how to set this Range 192.168.1.2 to 198.168.1.254 ( or less where do you set this? in Vonage?
 
1. Mention the Bsnl modem/model/name/type
and also the Vonage unit model number
you are using .
look for a similar page. SAVE reboot. Wait for 2 minutes.

Open IE browser Type 192.168.1.1 admin admin or password

2. Start Network LAN Properties
TCP/IP select
Properties.
ensure Obtain IP address automatically. selected.
Apply SAVE

In same page DNS can be changed to
208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

Unless the Vonage is connected and
the icons for telephone/Monitor/globe/
appear no connection.

Check whether your Internet works with RJ45 ( Dark Blue)
connected from Vonage to computer LAN port .

Do you get a scroll message obtaining IP address in the screen
of your Vonage Unit ?
