Slow download speeds on 1gbps plan

Two things-

Which software you are using to download?

Apart from IDM, forget you will get 80MBps+ speed.

Now comes the important part, are you using SSD or HDD?

Check Task manager performance tab while downloading, make sure SSD/HDD doesn't touch 100% mark. If it does, it is causing the bottleneck.

I get max 115MB/s in IDM but even with SSD, sometimes it drop to 50-90 once it hits 100% usage.

But who cares? its enough for me.

Using default Edge downloader, getting full 1gbps speed while downloading Windows ISO from Microsoft.

@Nefarious I use Kingston KC3000 gen 4 SSD and it barely even crosses 3-4% , on a single idm download with 32 parts I get 70-80 and if I put on 2-3 downloads at the same time then only it reaches max speeds

@SpeedxThunder try reducing the parts down to less than 10 in idm and see if it makes any difference?

@SpeedxThunder If you are using PPPoE. This won't get any better. have already tried. With static IP I get full speed but with PPPoE, it's always slow.

yeah I get even less on PPPoE, but all the tests were done on static IP

I even got the static IP replaced which fixed the German geolocation issue but still speeds issue is there

Why i do not get more than 600mbps on static ip ? Most of the times its 200-300 mbps.

Is it due to the wire ? Wire is 4 years old

@xtreameFibre idk if it's my connection or the backend, but when I called customer care they said i don't even have a static IP and I am on dynamic and whereas I was already on static IP

you can try to cancel static ip and get it times later like maybe a week or so
