I have been Using Airtel 300 Mbps Plan and have been getting download speed of about 100- 200 mbps on lan cable from the last 5 days.
I am experiencing these speeds both on Static IP and PPPoE .
Static IP is on Nokia ONT and PPPoE on my Mikrotik Router.
Can this be a DNS issue? Is there a option to change this in PPPoE?
Or Is It Something Else?
Upload Speeds are excellent always 350+ .
The Router Is Locked.

Best way to check speeds is to download a game from epic games or steam via Wired LAN. nperf speed tests are most accurate in my experience.
To be honest occasional speed drops shouldn't affect you that much unless you really need 300 Mbps up/down all the time or your internet completely goes down and your work/business gets affected due to it. After all it's a residential connection hence the speeds are not meant to be always symmetric and maybe infrastructure and implementation is not the best in your city(which is the case in northern parts of India).

Try changing DNS from the Mikrotik router? There's nothing much you can do to the Nokia ONT.

It's best to raise a ticket on Thanks App and get it checked via FR if this is happening frequently.

I am pretty sure its not airtel's side issue. Its merely Ookla not peered with Airtel properly in some regions. GPON has enough capacity to serve you 300/300 all the time.

@rajat_ will try downloading games tmrw also this is happening frequently going low as 100 .
Also have been facing issues in even browsing YouTube lately and normal music streaming
have raised a ticket on their website. They will probably solve it now after 6 days as basically every office is shut now.
