@ajuravi: I beg to differ on the repetition factor. That is a basic tenet of marketing. Repeat so that customer remembers. Why in the world would Coke and Pepsi spend huge money to rope in SRK and SRT to tell us "I drink this crap so should u" again and again and then again? Hell even Dominos advertises "Our pizzas kick ass with coke".

Boss you are not getting my point...overafter over its not acceptable at least to me..it irritates me..muching the same thing over after over...if they doing it atleast 1 in 2 overs i can bear...same event promo over after over...Man we are watching Star Cricket HD...we are knowledgeable person when the tournament starts and when it ends....we are not a dumbp...if you keep on delivering the ads it doent mean that we will see the tournament.....

I can understand Star Cricket SD channel goes to the masses from metro's to the rural part...you can deliver it over after over...

The customers who are watching Star Cricket HD i am confident that 90% of the people will know about the CL T20 event start date...

----------

The promo ads for CLT20 which they telecast over after over its not an alcohol for me to take it...even alcohol also there is a limit for intake...or else we vomit for the betterment...

I think that logic is pretty much right. But the problem is, they are literally over-doing this repetition. After every over u have the ad of CL without fail......be it SRK/Sachin/Kohli/Dhoni/Gayle/Watson........No matter how much they promote, it doesnt affect me. I hate IPL & CL to begin with. And just coz they have tortured us so much, i wont even have a glimpse of it when it gets underway.

Its a torture to HD people atleast SD people are able to see some other ads apart from CL T20 promo ads...Its seems to me its a punishment for us to watch those CL T20 ads being an HD customer....

@jaymin: Hell no, u cant average straight out. Do you say you spend 44 bucks some percentage share of that goes to the broadcaster? I dont think it would be as simple as that. How do they account for the discounts they give on yearly packages and such like for some of the customers? They must be running on some wicked twisted logic else the goddamn DTH player will pretty much go out of business.

----------

@ajuravi: Repetition isn't meant for knowledgeable people like you and me dude. It is meant for retards who dont get it straight the first time. And believe me this world is full of those kinds. I agree it is a torture. But then so is the damn coke analogy that i presented. Which idiot would have coke with pizza eh? I would rather settle for a pint of chilled beer :-)

C'mon the DTH player will charge based upon the cost that they incur on that channel. So if the GREEDY Broadcaster charges astronomical amounts from the DTH, then the DTH will in turn recover that from customer, along with their relevant margin & other costs. So its very much dpendent on how much Greedy is the broadcaster. We saw a similar case with Ten Cricket. They went overboard with their greed & as a result, DTH subscribers didnt subscribe that channel & cable subscribers watched it to limited extent.

My friend still you r not getting...i am just saying over after over...i would be pleased atleast if they put those ads once in 2 overs...

I am subscribing to Ten Cricket...Planning not to subscribe that channels...few days before i have unsubscribed to ten sports + for simple reason i am not watching any thing...Neo Cricket is another pathetic channel....

@jaymin: I dont agree... Say TS bags rights to a particular event in HD feed paying an astronomical amount and then tries to woo customers to buy its HD product, the smart customer gives a resounding no at a majority level. The DTH goes down? No. They pass the burden onto some housewife wanting to see Balika Vadhu for god's sake.

@ajuravi: I totally get u dude. Didn't I mention earlier that I am no retard?

So thats even what i am telling! If the DTH pays a huge amount, it will recover that from the subscriber. So basically the price that we pay for a particular channel, atleast an HD channel, is a direct function of the price the broadcaster has charged.

Star Cricket is greedy. So they charge high amounts from DTH. Sky Sports isnt. So they charge lower amount.

Yeah well they do say in Hindi "Jiski Laathi Uski Bhains". star cricket can afford to be greedy, Sky not so much at least for cricket. And direct function i still have my reservations. Now u and me are two people who wouldnt pick up boxes for CLT20 at least(purists some may call) and maybe a majority of such cases. Then what? Revenue stream on that channel is limited to the current lot of people and no new. So the direct function theory is in effect debunked. The poor housewife suffers.
