Hello,

I need to buy new AC for 190 sqft room top floor (sun directly hits the roof). So I know I need at least 2 Ton, but confusion is many people says that few brands 1.5 Ton AC's cooling is equivalent to 2 Ton in the other. So which brand I need and what tonnage?

A bit history on why I want new AC.
My first AC was 1.5 ton Voltas non inverter, It ran good the first year but cooling reduced from next year.
Many technicians have visited only to tell me that my AC is running perfectly. God knows what happened. But it won't chill the room as it used to do before and the compressor continues to run and room temp goes down but very slow. After so many diagnostics I came to a conclusion that because the unit was not vacuumed at install time, it's cooling efficiency was reduced but all technicians deny this fact. But I don't want to waste anymore time and money on this, I would rather buy new. My current AC already 5 years old now but this problem started happening since 2020, I bought it in 2019. In a nutshell I want to avoid this voltas brand all together.

Back to where we were, this post is about which brand's AC is must buy and what tonnage do I need 1.5 or 2 and it's cooling capacity, I want non inverter only.

Regards!

@Lolita_Magnum I myself was looking for Godrej ac's due to their affordable prices but their presence seemed lackluster in offline market.
I never saw Godrej ac in offline stores in Delhi.
Also as few users reported in reviews they have comparatively smaller ODU.
Do you mind sharing the product year and a review of it ?

Godrej ACs don’t last very long in Delhi. I know 3 people who got Godrej ACs (two of them are family members and 1 neighbor). ACs didn’t even last 3 years! The neighbor ended up buying a Hitachi, while one of my relatives purchased an O General AC. The other relative sold the Godrej AC at kabad ke bhav after being fed up of multiple repairs and persistent issues.

So the Japanese brand AC's do work well and heavy duty if installed properly. How are they running now?

When my current AC was installed, I didn't have a clue how it's done, the guys did the installation just seemed like normal dudes, they didn't vacuum my AC then and when I shifted indoor unit little above, they didn't vacuum again. I have a feeling this might be what reduced the cooling capacity, no matter how much the technician says it doesn't. Still not sure if this was it if everything else properly checks out.

Anyway, proper installation is must for any AC for longer durability.

@AAK I ran LG ac at 23 degrees on top floor and it still won't bring the temps down. It was rated 5000w max and is a dual inverter ac. When complaining to LG they said it's working fine, I complained twice for cooling issue but nothing from LG. On ground floor my non inverter LG AC chills the room at 24 degrees, within 10 mins.

@anmolbhard004 ogeneral 1.5 , or Hitachi seems like the right choice. Even Mitsubashi seems fine, it might not need after sales if the machine is durable enough. Bluestar ones are also being sold as heavy duty, don't know their long time usage review, but it's Indian company, already lost faith in that due to how my Voltas is doing.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions, they will definitely help me in choosing the right product.
