In Karnataka except Bangalore else where they are providing maximum speed of 2 MBPS....WTF?

I spoke to someone from Airtel yesterday. He said that he was from the technical team & he seemed to know my area. The actual man on the ground, perhaps???Anyway, he said that they are upgrading 'the cards'. I never asked where but I am assuming that this might be at the DSLAM. I think he called the DSLAM the 'main pillar'. He said that the main pillar is less than 200 m away, but since I'm connected to a 'sub-pillar', I am limited to my current speed.He said that if you are not able to get faster speeds now, you might be able to in a few months, when the upgrade is completed..When I asked about FTTH, he said that it's not available in Chennai. I asked if it was coming, but he said that he had no idea.I do not know if this upgrade is pan India, but he claims that it's happening in Chennai. We'll come to know in a few months, I guess.

looking at airtel and their new plans. i see little chance. i mean airtel expect customers to pay 800 rupees for 3GB data on their wired broadband plans.

I think they will never raise the FUP limit, considering that's the only reason people buy high end plans

Potential good news for Airtel users looking for a speed upgrade.
Airtel is slowly upgrading their DSLAMs. I asked for a upgrade on Sunday night again &, wonder of wonders, they upgraded me (8mbps to 16 mbps) today. They rejected my request a few months ago.

Unfortunately, my pings have increased 3x.
My speedtest pings used to be in single digits. Also, pings to google used to take me 6 to 8 ms. Now it's around 24-26ms.
Anyway, after a month or do, I'll probably downgrade to 4mbps to save a few paisa. Let's see.

That's upto them. An expensive option, yes, but an option nonetheless. And I can think of a few users waiting for this upgrade.
