The Ridiculous Airtel Broadband Plans

i was just joking on my last post, i just wanted to make airtel users blood pressure high, infact i am on 5Mbps Hathway plan and I am still getting the same speed after the 20GB FUP limit, i am so happy, i will never change my ISP, i have nearly downloaded 35938MB in 16days, Hathway simply rocks and what more i am just paying Rs.1393 incl tax per moth for a full 5Mbps Speed burst.:D

good luck with that. it would take hathway just one day to mess up everything for you.

Which ISP are you using at home and what is the speed that you are getting, what is the FUP is it limited or unlimited and how much are you paying for it, can you explain Mr.Mathew and last but not the least when the hell is your ISP Hayai is ready for home consumer use in Mumbai, it's already been 2 years and still not started?

I'm using Hayai 100mbit/s flat-rate at home because sadly, that's as far as my network card allows until I get around to replacing this laptop. I abide by the FUPs these days but the first month I had that speed I had transferred over 1TB (both up and down).

Also, it's been nearly 3.5 years and we've been operating since October last year. Maybe not where you are (where ever that may be), but operating nevertheless.

use google. here is one i found. Total Home Broadband - Packages - Telecom NZ Ltd

TelstraClear

Vodafone New Zealand

Ugh, man, all the worst ISPs. The only one worse probably is Slingshot.

Check up on Orcon, Xnet, Snap and Airnet, they're much better.

Can I see your Speedtest or can you make a video of your 100Mbps Hayai broadband downloads and if your really providing 1Gbps than all the latest computer LAN port support speed of 1Gbps, are you seriously launching 1Gbps here in Mumbai and btw i stay at Andheri West, if you provide here than that's good for me and what all you download with those blazing speed, your HDD might just get filled in few days only and what is the flat rate for 100Mbps and 1Gbps here in Mumbai.

Videos are already on the Youtubes and our website also has the tariffs. I should point out that Andheri is NOT a good area when it comes last mile connectivity.

The question of "what do I download with 100mbps" is really the wrong thing to be asking - I probably download some of the same stuff you do and at the end of the month, probably about the same amount - or maybe more because I'm downloading or watching in 720p or 1080p instead of standard-def, but you get the gist. The primary difference between you and me is that I download that same stuff a whole lot faster.

Because it takes me less time to download a TV show or movie than to watch it, I don't have to sit around worrying about waiting for stuff to buffer or download. This is one of the points for having high speed broadband: the consumption of media (audio, video, text, game, you name it) is able to happen on-the-fly.

Plus, I still have bandwidth to spare if I use an HD Webcam for Skype, my various cloud backup services can all work simultaneously without me noticing a slowdown in my Internet speed, and yes, a hard drive could get filled in a day or so at that speed but, then for the other 29 days a month the connection will remain mostly idle, so it all works out in the end.

Assuming everything else was equal (the technology, equipment, cables etc), do you think it costs any more to provide 150GB of data at 4mbps than it does at 20 or 100mbps? The answer should not surprise you, really: of course it doesn't! This is one reason I've been often confused by Airtel's pricing and now, if we don't mind, please can we keep this thread related to Airtel and it's "absurd pricing of broadband plans"... K?

Otherwise, please PM me so as to avoid me hijacking yet another thread.

^That again is absurd on the part of Airtel.Turbo 1150 - 40GB @4mbps - 1000 minsTrans 1250 - 60Gb @8mbps - 1000 minsI'd rather go for Transonic 1250 than Turbo 1150 as I'll get 20GB more at double the speed for just Rs. 100/- extra.

At least we are now getting some decent speeds except for the post f'up speedI think the sweetspot is Transonic 2000 - 125 GB@8mbps + 1500 Free Mins for Rs 2000/month. Cost per GB is Rs 16
