Tplink XZ2000-G3 for Airtel Xstream Fiber

If you need a basic ONT without WiFi and one that works as a bridge, Airtel can supply a Nokia model, if in stock, which is about the same size as the TPL in this thread.

In my view the field engineers who visit you mostly have no detailed tech knowledge. they only know basic stuff.
you have to insist for getting connected with their actual backedn expert. after some deliberation, the field engineer makes a call to them.
I asked for only ont but airtel said they do not have such models anymore and i will be supplied from latest stock which was zte 670 ont with wifirouter.
op can try that as he is in different location, may be airtel might have those models in stock there.
also many a times they want to keep things simple so all you hear is a NO to your request. All they want to do is close service requests in their system promptly. there are several instances where they closed SR without actual resolution!

This is basic stuff and most of the technician who visits home are aware of this.
I asked to contact Airtel because as someone said they are not able to do it themselves due to their new ONT only allowing certain characters for serial numbers.

All the technicians who visit for installation are aware of how to register ONT with its serial number. If they are not aware they call their local leads who are in their offices (not NOC team) and assign tickets to them. I myself have done this several times by directly contacting the Airtel Technical leadership guy's phone who enters the serial of the new ONT and asks me to restart it to get the pushed config. If the ONT is supported by Airtel, it would pick the config automatically else you can do it by yourself once the ONT is registered and authorized for your user at Airtel's end.

It looks like ONT change is never going to happen for me. I have raised multiple service requests and they closed it without resolving it. I spoke to Airtel technical engineers and TLs. They took all details and then no response. For the last SR I raised, the engineer told me to look for other providers. At this point, I'm not sure what I should do. Is there a way that we can use to clone serial number without Airtel intervention? Any help would be much appreciated.

@krishna2vinayak My experience with airtel is same as yours. They open sr and blindly close the sr after 2 days in their system.
Keep trying & try mailing net at the rate in dot airtel dot com. in my experience you should get response in 1 day. In past i escalated to them and they listened.

I was able to register and get O5 registration on TataPlay (but it still doesn't connect I think because either I don't have the PLOAM password or they also use Mac based authentication which can't be changed on this. For Tataplay the way to change the serial (get 16 digits) is that convert ALCL - the first 4 ASCII bytes to hex so you get 8 there and the rest of it is already HEX. So 16 hex digits basically.

ALCLXXXXXXXX - 414C434CXXXXXXXX

Try this and let me know if you can register it. For smaller ISPs who only use SN I am sure this will work.

Go to wan interface there you will find option to set mac address.
