[/COLOR]i wonder what make ISP to stick with around 512kbps on average!!!
even though
tata and reliance got the worlds best under roung internet cable!!!
does that mean they really dont want to provide to india!!!
nice move by TRAI to increase the speed of BB term definition to 2Mbps i bet every indian isp can provide more than that speed now but due to some reason they dont!!!
better plan as of now will be say
4 0r 8Mbps speed dl till 500GB and 512kbps there after!!! for 2k
You should read my thread
https://broadband.forum/hayai-broadband/50202-hayai-broadband/. Put simply, the wholesale price of bandwidth is such that it costs - at wholesale - anywhere from Rs 20 to Rs 34 per gigabyte when purchasing from Tata/VSNL. We need to get these prices down first.
I've been told that it is possible to get it cheaper, but I've yet to see hard evidence of it.
Even then, what about our overheads?
That will never happen mate... 4 or 8 MBPS till 500gb and then 512kbps.. it will only happen for 7k or something if ever it does.
On the topic of Airtel: Yeah, it will take a big effort from someone else to make me change.
Yeah but as you know here is costs Rs 50/GB which is not good...
For peering, yes: it's actually Rs 50 download, -50 upload, but the typical ratio is about 4:1 DL:Unlimited, so it still works out at about Rs 37.
ALL of our connections, regardless of delivery, will be completely synchronous (download speed equal to upload speed), so this may work in our favour. The exception to this is possibly mobile and wimax, where the hardware doesn't send and receive at the same speeds.
In US they get 1Mbps for 20 US$ approx 1000INR
3Mbps for 30 US$ approx 1500INR
7.1Mbps for 50 US$ approx 2500INR :frown::frown:
in USA you also pay for incoming SMS and phone calls. PLEASE stop comparing india with usa.
Additionally, in the USA there are over 30 wholesale bandwidth providers - India has 3 who own/part own a total of (I think) 5 cable systems.
Additionally, peering is FREE in the USA, whereas here it costs as mentioned earlier - even more helpful is that a lot of content is hosted in the USA itself.
For our customers, we would essentially be creating the same sort of environment as is in the USA by mirroring international content, as well as setting up facilities to allow Indian businesses might bring their hosting to us (or a partner company), pay the same or less for it, and experience better speeds - no matter which ISP the viewer is using. At the moment, hosting in India is very expensive for some reason, and most Indian web-hosts simply re-sell american services.
I also posted a bunch of links in my own thread: many broadband providers in the USA have data caps now, so actually even if we offer caps of only 150-250GB, we're providing services on-par with the USA (the price issue is something we're trying to sort out and get down to a level that is affordable to all)
