i'm from chandigarh and my upload speed is near what it should be, i.e. 64 kbps. the game pack can be found by logging on to the dataone.in website and checking ur account usage.. after logging in there should be a link on the bottom left that says game package 1.. however, i think that it's free only if you are an unlimited user.. dont know how much the others will be charged, or even if they can activate it or not.. after clicking the activate link, your speed should increase to 512 kbps, until you disconnect or reboot your computer... :)

wow, you get 64kbps as expected. That will be good enough for VoIP. Also, I have been reading about game package. How is that they can give 512 on a 256? Then what happens to plans that charge around 2000/- for the same 512 kbps. Maybe as someone mentioned its free till diwali. And whats the catch with till you disconnect or reboot. So, its like for the temporary session if you decide to play a game or some.

i think they're testing it.. bsnl is planning to launch bandwidth on demand.. with the game package activated my upload speed should double too.. about 128 kbps..

Even i am getting upload speed of nearly 64 kbps. You should test again.London-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Speed test statistics---------------------Download speed: 314952 bpsUpload speed: 73392 bpsQuality of service: 32 %Download test type: socketUpload test type: socketMaximum download pause: 531 msAverage download pause: 111 msMinimum round trip time to server: 254 msAverage round trip time to server: 257 msVoIP test statistics--------------------Jitter: you --> server: 5.5 msJitter: server --> you: offPacket loss: you --> server: 0.0 %Packet loss: server --> you: offPacket discards: 0.0 %Packets out of order: 0.0 %Number of supported VoIP lines: 1Estimated MOS score: 3.8San Jose,CA-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Speed test statistics---------------------Download speed: 315368 bpsUpload speed: 101888 bpsQuality of service: 37 %Download test type: socketUpload test type: socketMaximum download pause: 822 msAverage download pause: 90 msMinimum round trip time to server: 368 msAverage round trip time to server: 370 msVoIP test statistics--------------------Jitter: you --> server: 4.8 msJitter: server --> you: 3.0 msPacket loss: you --> server: 0.1 %Packet loss: server --> you: 0.0 %Packet discards: 0.0 %Packets out of order: 0.0 %Number of supported VoIP lines: 1Estimated MOS score: 3.9So maybe it all depends on where u are calling.

Hello Arun,I too used Vonage with BSNL, but sorry to say I disconnected BSNL for the sake of Vonage, because the upload speed was so patheticthat the caller on the other end experience break up in the callVonage recommends at least 90kbs upload for a good communication between the two callers. So my brother suggested Airtel, I am prettysatisfied with Airtel they give promised speed the upload speed I getis around 180Kbs so no problem in call break. If you want to useVOIP go for Airtel, Airtel provides good download and upload for agood conversationwith regards uba687

I ran the test again. Upload speed is nearly 1/10th of download. It varies between 20-40 kbps which is not good for VOIP.

Download Speed: 267 kbps (33.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 25 kbps (3.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Your download speed : 224 kbps or 28 KB/sec.
Your upload speed : 37 kbps or 4.6 KB/sec.

harman163 what is your location? Maybe its some metro area and hence the better upload speed

uba687 Airtel seems to be a good choice then. If they give you 180 kbps, it must be Symmetric DSL. Is it so? What is your plan and rate? They are available in Pondicherry but not in my location. Need to check with them.
