And u have already found the converter for the A/V jack and the 3.5 mm jack. So u can connect using that!

My TV has component IN not OUT. My only option is to connect to audio OUT from D2H DVR if it has one.

I said, u can do that. Even if u connect with HDMI, u can still connect via the A/V cable from the DVR directly.

Oh I thought that what you said was to connect from TV out. Sorry, My bad. Also by doing that will Audio and video sync problems occur cause the cable lengths will be different and all cause some time ago when I tried to connect my VCR to a TV tuner card something like that happened. I don't remember exactly what setup did I used then.

No. U wont face Syncing problems. In older TV Tuners u face that problem. But u cant face the issue when u connect a speaker set directly from the STB.It doesnt depend upon the length of the wire. It hardly makes any difference in a distance of few feet/metres!

Okay i think many of the members here are wondering if videocon D2h offers 5.1 surround sound or not.Well it only advertises that it offers high def sound. First of all let me make it clear that the only way you can enjoy the quality sound is that you should have a dedicated AVR receiver(generally a big box with loads of connection ports behind; usual companies like Denon, Onkyo, Pioneer and costs start around 20K) and not those home theater-dvd setups. Make sure that your AVR has a HDMI input (a standard on all new avr's) or a SPDIF.Secondly, you will only be able to hear and make out that high quality sound on mainly HD movie channels like Star Movie HD, Movies now HD and Star World HD as well. You wont really notice the sound watching espn HD or star cricket HD.And finally regarding the 5.1 surround sound or dolby digital 5.1, this is offered on all star HD channels (star plus HD, star movies HD , Star world HD and star gold HD). All you have to do is when you switch to any of those channels press the INFO button and then press the yellow button. Then you will see an option with a speaker logo just change it from 1 to 2 using the directional keys and the sound will change to Dolby Digital. Please note this is only available on Star HD channels and you will only get the sound if you have connected the STB to a AVR receiver via HDMI. On another note, if you have invested in an AVR and connected ur stb to it via HDMI, the AVR will process the High def sound better than the 5.1 Dolby Digital but still you can change to 5.1 Dolby digital and hear the diff yourself. Hope it helps

We actually knew about this Star HD Channels. But the problem is theres some issue in DVR, and so we are not getting that feed on it. The customer care is insisting that once the update gets thru, we wud get the Dolby sound on those channels. But this update has taken much longer than usual. Lets see when we eventually see an update! And about quality of sound, yes the more u invest the better it is. If u buy AVR, then it will surely help to get a better experience. But having said that, i dont understand how u claim that we wont get that good level of output for ESPN HD or Star Cricket HD. It gives u the experience of being seated ryt in the stadium. And u clearly hear what the keeper says from the stump cam. Now i have noticed these differences between the broadcast on Star Cricket HD & Neo Cricket SD. And those faint nicks, the sound of stumps getting shattered, the sound of ball hitting the sweet spot of the bat....well they sound so crisp!

I don't know about the update but it the dolby digital sound works flawlessly with my onkyo sr 708 and it shows dolby digital as soon as i switch it to that option on star HD channels.

Well what i meant about the sound in ESPN Hd and star HD is that people would not really be able to make out the so called 5.1 surround sound and with sound like coming from back speakers and all. I mean all this would be more prevalent and more frequent in movie channels where you usually get all these effects. Ofcourse all the HD channels have a much better and crisp sound.

Lastly , its unfortunate but you do need an AVR in order to enjoy a Multichannel surround sound or 5.1 sound. A normal home theater doesn't have the processing capability to take these individual channel sounds from another SOURCE (in this case the stb). Also you need an HDMI or optical cable as a normal RGB cable would never be able to handle the bandwidth required by the 5.1 dolby digital sound.

This is a big misconception and companies market it as it is. With my ps3, I researched a lot and tried quite a few setups including those normal home theater speaker setups with built in dvd player. Finally i had to invest in an AVR in order to experience a true Dolby digital 5.1/dolby digital HD/DTS HD ,etc.

I think u r using an HD Zapper? Coz the DVR users here are not getting that feed at all. If u r a DVR user & getting the feed, then i think we have a strong point to put forward to D2h. Do let us know! And yeah on Sports channels ultimately u have to hear the crowds & the commentary. So obviously to that extent it wud be less than HD Movie channels.Lastly, on the connection setup......its understandable that to have quality u have to throw in some bucks. So normal A/V cable wud b no match to HDMI or a lesser Composite cable. I didnt knew about S/PDIF when i bought my TV & 5.1 channel speakers, so i didnt go for it.I settled with a Composite cable, and its still giving a really good sound, as DVR is connected to TV via HDMI.
