it should be that way.... 95% it should be that way5% no because with vodafone , you cannot be blind. they use all loopholes and maximise their revenue... after all they have to pay huge sum to tax guys !

I guess it is ignorance of the customer care executives. I am sure 3G will fall back to 2G when 3G is not available and the only difference would be you will be paying 3G charges for 2G data.

That is acceptable, but I really hope its just ignorance on their part. Maybe I will try again after a couple of days. But this is really sad, they would lose customers like me and there will be several customers like me who are high paying, frequent traveling and who use their phones for a lot of business activities.

I am using airtel 3g and that is what happens when I am out of 3G coverage area. It is just their ignorance as 3G is new in India. If there is any technical customer care number, call them(airtel has a technical support for GPRS and 3G who are indeed very technical and will give you the right information). ------------------Gopichand Pai

Oh okay, thanks a lot for that info. I will keep that in mind. Vodafone has one of the worst customer care services in India. THE absolute worst being HTC :)

It is same with all the operators these days. It is just that if you get a technically sound person you will get the right information and it is hard to find such executives when you call the customer care :)

When I was testing out 3G, I kept my phone in dual network mode. So if I was travelling from a 3G area to a 2G only region, then the data used to automatically fall back on edge

Okay need some clarification on the 3G USB stick plan

two link tell two different tariffs
1) Vodafone 3G USB Stick: 3G USB Modem - Internet access for laptop & Desktop | India - 7499 Annual (2500 Hardware cost + 5000 Browsing at 3G unlimited) or 899 Monthly Rental Browsing at 3G unlimited

2) Vodafone 3G USB Stick: 3G USB Modem - Internet access for laptop & Desktop | Mumbai - 5599 Annual (No Hardware cost, 5599 Browsing at 3G unlimited) or 599 Monthly Rental Browsing at 3G unlimited

Now which tariff to believe and is vodafone unlimited = NO FUP ???

I was going through the FAQs on Vodafone 3G website. This is what is written there:

What happens when I move from 3G to 2G network?

[*] When a user moves from 3G to 2G network then all the service supported on Vodafone 3G network like, video call, high speed internet access, etc will not be available, the user will get basic service like what he gets now. If you were on a voice call while moving from 3G to 2G network, the call will continue.
[/list]Now I am not able to understand whether EDGE will be available here...
