I put my phone (iPhone 6) on LTE mode and its showing 3 dots out of 5.

But how to know its LTE or not?

I dont have data plan so I have not tested speed.

I dont have 4G SIM but I had changed SIM last year. How to know if its 4G SIM. Do I need 4G SIM?

Amissh, it will show LTE in top status bar if you are latched to LTE network. You also need a 4g SIM card. They started issuing 4g sim from Jan 2016, so most likely, you are still not on LTE.

Ok I noticed in some news that 4G SIM are currently given for free.

But it also says 4G SIM have different programming then 3G/2G SIM

I want to know if 4G SIM will support older 2G/3G?

I know 4G will consume more battery but will it consume additional battery if its on 2G?

New 4g sim are backwards compatible....so they will work with 2g and 3g too. If you are using 2g / 3g network, it will consume the same amount of battery as it did on an older sim.

As per the press release today, LTE is only available in South Mumbai and key business and residential areas in Western Suburbs. Central Mumbai and Navi Mumbai will get LTE coverage by end of March 2016.

Yes launched and my 6S Plus is showing LTE

Signal strength is 1-2 dots at the moment

Quick speedtest gave 20Mbps down/5Mbps up

Switches to 3G during call. VoLTE not enabled yet.

Did you also get a warning that "This cellular network has not been certified by the carrier for LTE" ? I get this warning when I turn on LTE on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.4. Wanted to know if it is okay to ignore and proceed ? Discussion boards at Apple say that LTE will not work if you see this warning....

Yes I had got that warning. But I said proceed and it went ahead.

It was not showing LTE on top bar.. but in settings it switched to LTE (i.e. it did not fall back to 2G/3G)

4G sim are 128k atleast.
4G won't work on 32k or 64k sim. so thats another way to check.

Just now upgraded to 4G for free from voda owned outlet.

Though zero network in west delhi even after one week of launch. voda rep said it would 10-15days more for network to show up.
