Maybe they throttle on family plans. That's odd

Yeah coz they provide 150 GB per month and with data carry over I had 380 GB. It can be used like a broadband anywhere but with lower speeds.

Even Airtel is capping Postpaid Sim speeds to 16 Mbps but Upload speeds were not capped.

I am not facing any such issue with my Airtel postpaid sim, i am on 499 plan with rs 50 rental discount and i got 100+ Mbps in a lot of places

I also have around 270 GB(200 GB carry forward+ 70 GB this months data left)

That's the Strategy started by Jio but still it is lot better than paying 250Rs for 1GB data which we used for a month those days.

That's Great. But with this plan it goes up till 30Mbps everytime and comes down to 15 or 16 Mbps. With prepaid at the same place i get speeds upto 90 Mbps easily.

Wait, isn't there a 150gb data cap or there is no data cap?

I am pretty sure it gets throttled to 1 Mbps after 150 GB and unlimited thereafter

I think they're implying they'll provide higher speed in case the tower capacity is filling up. But it is quite a shady practice, theres no way to even know if you are throttled like broadband speeds

It's also pretty shady that there is nowhere written in the app itself that there is supposed to be 150 GB high speed cap unless one reads the T&C which rarely anyone does

It also does not support carry forward of high speed data

Just like Airtel does with it's top postpaid plan. They say it's unlimited, but there's a cap of 500GB.
