I feel that is a better solution in the long run. Struggled with a repeater for a couple months. Eventually flung a lan cable from one floor to the other, not the best sight, but has been working flawlessly across three floors
Prolly, I used a crappy repeater. Dunno.
Things are not bad. Signal needs a bit of a bump on ground floor. It cover 90% of the area comfortably. Dad's Chromebook is facing issues. Could be hardware problem in Chromebook.
The other option not usually considered is using the powerline to distribute (equipment is made by TP-Link & D-Linkl) the data signal thru the house, especially over many floors & larger areas where lots of walls/partitions exist. But not sure about the cost though, I dont think it will be very cheap.
