MTNL Mumbai First time: MTNL Throttling torrents to 1 Mbps

Today for the first time I am seeing torrent throttling.
Speedtest: 8 Mbps
Private torrent: 1 Mbps

I rebooted modem, pc and also used uTorrent, Transmission, Deluge clients.

I also used public tracker. But only 1 Mbps. No matter what.

Used PIA's VPN and now I am getting full 8 Mbps. So Throttling confirmed.

Did anyone else notice this?

No such issue here getting 1.5 mbps. But getting frequent disconnections though.

Check again.
My SOTL gateway is being throttled for downloads and torrents during day to 1 Mbps.
With VPN, it's full 8 Mbps.

Indeed. I've been extremely frustrated with mtnl since morning.

Torrents were running at 1mbps exactly. Suspected throttling, and tried downloading my go-to VPN. That itself took ages. Had to switch to TATA.

Will check now.

Damn. Now that I think of it, I'd faced the same issue sometime earlier in the week too.

No throttling here. 120 series IP. 8 mbps plan.

However, many pages have been slow to load. On the Speedtest page, it takes a minute for the flash applet to load but the test itself shows regular results (~7Mbps)

From past 2-3 weeks I am getting very slow speeds to USA speed test servers.

If I change speedtest server to Indian server it shows full 1mbps on 1mbps plan

But if I change speedtest server to Chicago USA it hardly shows 200-300kbps.

Downloading from foreign sites are also very slow .. like whatsapp video download kind of crawls.

Yep. Past few weeks have been pretty shabby, tbh. Unlike mtnl

I'm not sure if they're explicitly trying to block. But something is up for sure. Testing an Ubuntu ISO right now and the speed is around ~400kBps. Goes to 950kBps and then down again.

120.62 series is getting torrent throttling. (At home)
120.63 series No throttling whatsoever. (At work)

Must be some random issue. (typical MTNL fixing things which ain't broken)
