well i have ESET smart security....coupled with spybot search and destroy and malwarebytes anti malware...which i use to scan the whole system once in 1-2 months!!and even though microsoft updates its antivirus (windows defender) database signatures every other day...i dont know what it does....it didnt even detected a SINGLE virus in my computer til now! :x

i have done enough experimentation for this lifetime. if the windows is licensed, i would suggest MSE.if not, i would suggest Panda Cloud Antivirus.

^^ experimentation like what? installing various suites on ur PC and decide on your own. the link i posted is of a widely recognized antivirus/suites testing company. been following them for some time and using Norton based on their results. when all the world was saying better not install anything than norton, i started using it. never had a problem

Microsoft essential is real bad

Try another antivirus with MSE you can observe how many viruses its leaving, majorly spyware, I personally checked it and decided not use it again,
Note this Microsoft is not good at security in the operating system too...

what kind of spywares???? like did you check the file that was infected.... most of the time other antiviruses falsely detect keygen like useful wares as threat which are mostly not.... MSE rather ignore these stuff

so try for yourself i have been using MSE for past 1and a half year with good results also we get offline updates too!!!!

installing MSE could be a huge mistake. my experience with >> on a LEGIT copy of xp pro i installed after i got a nasty malware from a flash add i had my firewall down for 10 mins and this happened, anyway i installed MSE thinking it would take care of t, installed rebooted, windows just got stuck on log on screen , windows just refused to boot, so booted in safe mode, luckily i had malwarebytes installed updated and cleaned that malware , cleaned the registry entries it had made etc , it was totally gone, booted out of safe mode , windows still refused to boot, well i though maybe that something still remained from that stupid virus soi boooted off from Hiren's BootCD , run the virus scanner from there, all was clean, ran some disk tests everything all ok , by now i was getting bugged as that was the only p.c i had access to on that day , so booted into safe mode again , went into system logs to check what is happening and guess what MSE error : your windows license has expired login denied !!!! and this happened on a legit copy of xp pro i had , anyway windows is so hackable all i had to do was to change the license to a PIRATED, one remove MSE make some changes to registry , and i was good . guess MS likes pirated copies better then legit ones. anyway i would never recommend this to anyone . there is very good chance that you get locked out your system even on legit copies , the risk is too much i knew how to get of that but 70% ppl could get stuck and would be forced to do a reinstall. stick to nod32 and a good software firewall, infact a good hardware firewall combined with a good software firewall like outpost pro and you really don;t need av.

When I installed MSE, I downloaded avast! as a backup antivirus in case it fails on me.But this babe, is just awesome. No creepy announcements while updating, no nasty ads. Just awesome.

i have been using MSE on my genuine windows... and i dont think i need any other replacement.

I am using MSE on windows 7 and MCAfee 8.8i enterprise version.McAfee 8.8i version has viruscan + antispywareMSE is also good as far as I have experienced
