Try visiting your local BSNL office and talking to the higher ups there. They always solve any problem you bring to them, you should get your connection within 2 days after talking to a higher up.

that is the sole reason i have avoided dealing with bsnl in the first place. i am not going to run after them to get myself a connection or get service support for it. i only applied for it because they accepted applications online. fine i have issues with airtel. but i can manage these issues sitting from home and dealing with airtel support on twitter or phone.

that should work for the installation purpose. i am just worried about the bigger picture. just waiting to see how exactly are they going to treat a customer who does not run after them for a new connection. from what i see, they are behaving just like a typical sarkaari company (which they are of course). have a customer willing to take a connection. no interest in delivering it to him.

well to be fair to them, i am not exactly running after them or calling the senior guys or going to their offices. i am just sitting at my home lazying around cursing my stupidity and crying at the falling traffic on this forum. :crazy1:

I actually got my connection within a week of applying for it (called them) without talking to anyone other than the linesman. Had no problems since then other than when I changed to a 4mbps plan from a 512kbps plan; they hadn't changed my line rate so I was only getting 2mbps. Called multiple times but it only got resolved when I talked to a higher up while paying my bill in person.

It took me nearly a month and a half to get bsnl broadband. I was not in a hurry so I waited.I made an on line application, I got an sms the same day giving the name and the mobile number who will contact me soon. There was no call for over a week. I made the call and got to talk to him after a couple of attempts. He agreed to make a visit soon with an application form; he asked me to keep documents ready (he will tell me on his visit)After two days waiting, I called him and got the same response. No commitment on his visit.I visited the local BSNL office, filled the application form, attached an original three month old land line bill. The lady accepted the form even though I had not pasted a photograph. I opted for the home combo 900 plan. There was nothing to pay as the charges will be shown in the next monthly bill. Two days after this I got a call from my assigned contact - he wanted to visit that afternoon for the application formalities. I told him about my visit and submission of form. He said 'oh' and disconnected.I got a call about installation five days later (after my submission) that someone will visit me that evening for installation and that I have to pay him Rs. 150. (BSNL has sub contracted this work). The technician landed at 7 pm after checking my availability, connected my wifi modem/router, gave me the password and id (from a handwritten list). But he could not set it up and internet connection was not established. He said he will visit BSNL office the next day and tell them to activate my account by evening. No activation or feedback from the technician; he too was not taking calls. The next day I did the settings and bang - connection established within 15 minutes. Registering and logging in to the bsnl self care site took another 3 days - it refused to accept my registration with the message that I did not have a broadband account.Time scale: Online application mid augustSubmission of hardcopy application in bsnl office : 23 AugInstallation: 28 AugActivation: 30 AugThe connection is quite stable after I put a ADSL-voice splitter. But speeds are at 1Mbps level, peaking to 2 Mbps, far cry from the promised 4Mbps.When I offered to pay annual charges (10*900), it was not accepted. I have to make an application!

I think in 2002, I applied for a new (second) BSNL connection. I went to the office and submitted my application. By the time I came back home after half hour, the linemen knocked at my door. That was a total surprise. It was also a newly commissioned exchange. My experiences with BSNL in the 1990's were horror stories though. In 2005, I switched from BSNL to Airtel.
