Hi,Of late when I tried connecting my work laptop to BSNL Broadband connection the PC/USB light did not lit up. However when the same is connected to desktop everything works fine. I tried connecting my laptop to other LAN connection at my workplace to check whether the problem is with my Laptop LAN Card but no issues encountered.Bottom line the BSNL Broadband works fine when connected to Desktop but shows network cable unplugged when connected to Laptop.Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

Are you using same cable in your Desktop too ?what is the model of router you have for BSNL ?

Disable network card, remove the driver, reinstall, there may be problem of corrupted host files. Google for host repairs tool, not able to remember the name but will post tomorrow. Search for drp.su site, here you can get driver utility which has drivers in GBs, download and updaye your nic driver.

Hi,Thanks iCon for your reply. When you say repair host files, do you mean just the 'hosts' file found in WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc or all the hosts file.I checked for the 'hosts' file on my laptop and it seems to be correct and similar to what google search results states. However I haven't tried uninstalling the drivers. Probably will have to wait for sometime before I get back to my home town.Let me know if there is some specific repair to host file you are mentioning to.Thanks again.

People should update here either their problem is solved or not after getting suggestions from here, so that can help others too.. They just put questions, get answers than they never update. :/

Check if WiFi hardware is disabled using Function button.
