Was just now checking connection on Hathway after some time, it seems to look that the internet connection works better on ACT, and Hathway compared to BSNL FTTH. This is an addition to the above review which i had given earlier.

The point is, if you have other top broadband connections available in your area, opt for that instead of BSNL (discarding that affinity for a Government brand).

ACT is one of the best ISP i have used. They have very good routing implementation.Their customer service is also very prompt in solving issues atleast in Bengaluru. Hathway is the worst, don't get lured by their lucrative offers and higher speed plans, their routing and peering is absolutely terrible. In most cases, you will see a huge packet loss and ping spikes.
BSNL is mostly bought by boomer uncles who think they are supporting a government brand, paying hefty amount for router and installation, or someone who doesn't have any other option. My uncle chose BSNL over ACT, Jio and Airtel simply because he was a very long time customer of BSNL ADSL connection. He paid 7000 rupees in total to upgrade to fiber. What a sh*t show. I get disappointed everytime i visit his place looking at the DBC router 😂.

For someone who is retired, and has no specific work to do, and the ones who depends on internet only for Amazon Prime, Netflix and other binge, i think BSNL is enough. But, it is worse, and i don't fully recommend for anyone tho.

Use ACT, which seems to be better than Hathway for P2P, Hathway comes next. Right now, i'm using Airtel only for mobile data, which also doesn't seem great. Airtel Fiber is disconnected from my side.

It's been two days my BSNL connection is out of service, the local chaps don't even receive the calls. I had to dial 198 to lodge a complaint in the centralized complaint registry, since the private entity entitled with BSNL contract is not responding. Hope the issue will now be sorted out.

What about those whose only option is BSNL FTTH. Airtel and many other big ISPs are best but it is only available in tier 1 cities no option for tier 3 cities, there are many local isp and I have visited their office god knows what equipment they use once saw cooling OLT’s with table fan. In my area those who have taken local broadband they cries everyday total shit service god knows how these isps gets license there should be some kind of scrutiny or regulation by govt or trai to penalise them. For these reasons I shifted to BSNL ADSL one day I came to knew about bsnl online portal to apply for ftth connection so I applied but got rejected by bsnl local exchange they said that my lco won’t take their service because of low commission so I went to my lco he straightway denied to provide me bsnl ftth. Luckily at that time SDM telephone of BSNL helped me he was young and energetic he told the Lco to provide me service otherwise bsnl will directly connect me with their Fiber. LCO knew that he might loose all his local broadband subscribers so he connected me. In my area I was the only one to get bsnl ftth it took me 2months. It’s been 2 years since then, never faced any downtime also once there was long power cut in my area I was the only one getting the Internet because bsnl have big batteries also in my area there are many govt financial institutions and their Internet is provided by bsnl local exchange so they keep 99.99% uptime.

I know, many peoples have bad experience with bsnl but as far as I came to know bsnl service is area specific it might be bad in your area but it might be good in some other area.

This is my BSNL experience that I have never shared.
I have also airtelxtreme but in my other house no one can match their service it is best also in that area Tata play available don’t know how is their service.

One more point if in your area JTO is qualified and young then you can get a lot of help. I got help if you got good connection with him he might give you Bsnl Nib contact information then your 90% problems related to technical might get resolved very quickly.

@supukabi Lucky. I have had BSNL FTTH since years around my locality but the LCO denied to give connection here. BSNL guys were fairly useless as well.

Later got RailWire from the same LCO.

BSNL is okay here. Best ping rn to every server but goes down like once a day for a few minutes and some time hours. Still can't beat RailWire in being piece of shit here. 😜

I am having my peaceful times with Jio Fiber now. 😂

@Zuke yeah I also face ping problem but recently after new BNG it’s has been reduced ipv6 also stable. Though Yesterday got google issue but resolved for now. Don‘t know why can’t jio and Airtel launch fibre in certain cities is it because of monopoly of the local isps in my area it is prevalent may be that is the reason for launching air fibre 5g.

@supukabi Also depends on the demand in the area before they serve your area. BTW, Airtel Xtreme is available in your city (i.e., Burdwan) but maybe not available on your locality.

They recently started serving my city too but I am not expecting them to serve my area anytime soon. JioFiber took more than three years to start serving my area after they launched services in my city. They even took their cable just from in front of my house to another locality, about three years ago. 😂

Keep trying for Jio/airtel, they may start serving your area soon, maybe. 👀

This weekend went without Fiber Internet because of the BSNL. ACT also had glitch, and i was not able to connect through it. Airtel Postpaid Number was out of home, so i had to manage with low data packs.

My point is: BSNL- whether as PSU or under PPP, does never work.

Managing a weekend without internet is tough. I lose my mind if my internet is down even for a minute, i am very paranoid about it. Gone are those days where i could suffice with limited data packs(1.5GB//day). My work and my parent's entertainment totally depends on wired broadband.
