Data transfer depends on speed of your broadband connection.
lan data transfer upto 100Mbps and USB (OLD) 11 Mbps.
compare usual WIfi 54 Mbps/108 Mbps.
Lan mode preferred .

Click Network /LAn Status and see the speed specified.

i tried every thing as explained above but the problem still persists ....the internet through Ethernet is working fine but through WIFI i cannot connect to my HP laptop ...i done understand if it is my modem or my laptop problem ...my laptop is HP and i use windows7 OS....help me out ...

You mean to say you can use more than one system simultaneously using ethernet cable ?Can you see the WiFi network in your laptop's " wireless connections " ?To do1. Configure your modem in PPPoE mode.2. Enable DHCP in your modem.3. In the TCP/IP properties of your connection (both PC and laptop), set " Obtain IP address automatically ".

no iam now using the ethernet connection for my laptop and now i want to make it wireless ans my modem is teracon and it supports wifi

Still to confirm : Able to see SSID (name of your wireless network) in your laptop's wireless connection list ?
