Diagnose Mtnl Triband Broadband Problems

Braveguy, Thanks for your help....!But it seems, that my family members wont approve of getting in another Incable service, coz we are even about to shift to any DTH from this cable.....we have a bad xperience of them. And to add to it, Reliance Wired Internet is offering me 600Kbps, That means 75KBps - and that too, minimum. He said it can go upwards, but wont fall below it under normal circumstances.....And i think THEY DONT HAVE ANY FUP....Coz, when i asked that cc guy, he didnt even know what was FUP or Torrents!!I asked him to contact his senior. He did, and reverted to me saying that "We are not aware of such terms at all"......Plus, we are getting nice offers on call rates as well......so i think we would go ahead with it.The main factor - My Dad is happy with his current Reliance connection, and he doesnt want to get in Incable again. So, he wont agree to any other connection except Reliance!!And that appears good as well!!Still, i thank you for your support!! :)

Its such a funny situation with me rite now -My MTNL 320 kbps connection gave me DL = 4 or 5 kBps, and UL = 20 or 25 kBps.....Now as a makeshift arrangement, i have connected to my other Wired Reliance connection via LAN. And guess what.....This 300 kbps plan gives me DL = around 35 kBps, UL = Same as DL.....This just shows that how useless MTNL is!!! They are playing some kind of gimmicks with me.....I m pretty sure now, i m disconnecting this crap, and going for the 649pm plan, with 600 kbps speed of Reliance!!They appear really good at maintaining their promise!!

is this the unlimited plan with no FUP. the people who isntall are layman. they must not be knowing what FUP is. only a person with good knowledge will know. also u can get complete info from the website.

Oops, forgot to give u my location - Borivali, Prem Nagar area - its very well known in Borivali......in short, a location where most of the facilities are available, and very near to Borivali station as well.....
Hey Jaimin, I know the place very well. I used to live in Philjoy Building from 1983 to 1988. You were probably not yet born then.

As a matter of fact, i have started to think on - 5net, In2 Cable, Reliance - yes, we have those wired Broadband services of Reliance in our area.....

And, to still give you an intricacy - we already have 1 Reliance line in our home for another PC, i need this for my second PC, and Dad says that we better get a new Reliance line, instead of going after the unknowns!!

So i am now seriously looking at it!!

PS: Can i know your real name?? I dont like calling any1 with screen names - looks odd to me!!
If you have been happy with Reliance wired, it sounds like a good idea going for it. However, from the reliability point of view, it is always better to have two different ISPs if you need two connections. This ensures that the chances of at least one line working are better. 5 Net would be my other choice but I guess they will not service Prem Nagar area yet.
You can call me Emil.

The UL speed is right but the DL speed is really bad. Fight (politely) and they should solve your problem. If you have a better alternative then switch. But first tell MTNL you have a better alternative since they have not been able to resolve your problem for so long. If you see the general feedback, MTNL is a better ISP to have than Reliance. However, there are location to location differences in the kind of support you get and for you it may be time to change.

Relaince is not ADSL. All ADSL providers will specify a much lower UL speed as compared to UL speed.

No, i didnt ask the installation people. I asked the Call centre guy....and he in turn asked some of his "Expert" Senior. But they were alien to both terms!! And website doesnt show any such info as well.......

Actually the very reason why we went ahead with MTNL was this 1 - that if anyone fails, there are still chances that the other one is active. And as such, we had been warning MTNL people that we might as well disconnect their services.

But it seems they are thinking that we just give lame warnings. We wont be shifting in reality. So, changing will make them realise that when a customer says "There is competition out there", he really means it - theres no such thing as loyalty quotient beyond a tolerance point.
I dont know much techinicalities about the technology involved - as in you mentioned ADSL or Non ADSL......the only thing matters me is that i am getting good speeds continuously......

In MTNL what happened - even if the speed reached 30 kBps, it fluctuated between 12 or 10 and 30......whereas when i mention 35 for Reliance, it fluctuates between 31 and 41......(Both are extreme cases, else 33 & 37)....

To top it all, the Upload is equal to the HIGH download speeds as well - so i wont be termed a leech amongst Torrent users!!

And you are rite - the service very much depends from area to area....if the workforce in your area is interested in their work, no matter what, they will build a good image for their organisation......nut if its otherwise, well you can see my case!!

Oh i just forgot to mention about the location again - I know Philjoy apartments. And its now under Redevelopment!! And you missed my year of birth by 1 year....i was born in 87!!

Already answered this in the other thread where you posted this.

try changin or upgrading to a better modem...
Another possibility is very bad line. but this will show up in the ADSL synch speed - ur log shows that it sychs at 2Mbps everytime. So the chances of bad splitter is high. I would recommend changing the splitter before u target change of modem.

Hi,I'm from Mumbai and have a 512Kbps Unlimited connection. Here are my details: Downstream Upstream SNR Margin : 11.6 36.5 dbLine Attenuation : 22.6 16.4 dbData Rate : 384 253 kbpsI face frequent disconnection problems and disturbance in the phone line too. After registering a complaint, and a few frantic phone calls later, the Lineman turns up and says that "Exchange ki side se sab theek hai aur line mein kuch kharabi nahi hai!" He's telling me that the disturbance in the phone line is because of "concealed wiring", which I'm not so sure of.My phone arrangement is Main line > Telephone 1 > Splitter > ADSL and Telephone 2.I wouldn't mind changing the arrangement, if it will put an end to this problem, once and for all. Also, I think my connection has slowed down over time, 2 weeks before and during Ganesh Utsav (September), I used to get download speeds of 180-200kbps.The max that I get now is 32-33kbps.HELP!

2 things I can immediately see. Your line stats are bad and your download sync is lower than your plan speed. The latter should be easy to fix. You tell them about it and it will be done.Regarding the line problem, the lineman could be right. It would be a good idea to temporarily disconnect the Telephone 1 and test the stats and speed. When you have concealed wiring, the lineman connects his instrument at the point of access and check for noise etc. Then he checks it just before the start of concealed wiring. This way he can figure if the problem is in the concealed wiring. This problem must be fixed but besides that you must get rid of Telephone 1 connection. My wiring diagram is similar to yours without the Telephone 1. But I need it at a upstream location too. So what is the way? I have a cordless 1x2 where the base unit is at Telephone 2 location and the remote charger is located at Telephone 1 location. So it works like having a parallel line but with just one tap. Plus the convenience of the cordless in both rooms.
