Clarity detorates on Splitter? I ask the guy who came to install to go for splitter rather than 2 cables.... he pushed for 2nd cable saying clarity detorates on splitter. "Getting the 2nd Cable was much tough job than installing splitter"

It just does not work. It hangs, it restarts, it mutes, changes channels without commands........
The call center is equally bad. They schedule visits by engineers, who never show up. Some idiotic engineer shows up once in a while and says do not watch HD channels!
I was watching the match yesterday and during the Pakistani batting, I had to power off and power on the STB at least 20 times!
Hey sa_kiran, I recieved my Tata Sky Plus HD just yesterday, having booked it 48 hours ago only. Their service begining with installation, explaining it all to me, et al is just awesome I thought. Your case seems to be a rare one. I loved the way the customer care handled my call, engineer called me back to confirm the time and date of installation, checked again if someone was home. Overall, the quality of HD rocks, I have seen it in the USA and Japan, and it is absolutely as good. Love watching Star world, star movies with no ads at all. Hope they never ever show ads on any of the movie and entertainment shows, never ever....!!

@armaan_99 dude they push for the second cable just to siphon money from you as the cable costs a lot more than a measly splitter!! And no the splitter doesnt really affect reception. I have had two cables setup previously and now am on a splitter. No noticeable change.@Jignesh: No dude. The splitter doesnt come free. I saw the installation list that the tech was carrying with him. (It was kinda like an RTO offence list with prices mentioned for each and every stupid thing) Splitter is non-standard installation Type 2 worth 125 bucks in its own right. No wonder you keep praising Tsky coz they dole out freebies to u.

It was a free installation as i upgraded from normal STB to HDR. He even had to drill to get the second cable inside, i insisted a lot for the splitter but he was firm to install it only with the second cable. No idea thou who paid him those extra bucks for the care taken to install the second cable.

You can choose Tata Sky HD+ for the quality.... quantity wise you may find little less channels compared to others. Most DTH platform are giving Star Sports HD for French open but the same is missing on Tata Sky HD+.The next best option i would suggest is Videocon D2h HDDVR. Good variety of channels + better user interface. Further if you could get a chance to see RDTV demo on all the 250 channels in near HD quality.. I would definitely recommend RDTV for getting all channels in 16:9 ratio (not sure thou).
I love Tata Sky HD for its quality of picture and sound. Go for TataSKYHD only if you are seriously into quality and not just no. of HD channels. Tata Sky HD is the best of all HD services I have personally compared over the last 2 months at various TV dealers, stores etc. and it wins over all including Airtel DTH. I am extremely satisfied with the quality of Star Movies, Star World and Star GOLD movies in Hindi, just awesome quality. Hats off to their focus on giving quality and not compromising on any of it.

We watched IPL in HD so missed a few days with the French open as Tata Sky doesn't have any space left. As soon as the IPL final (yesterday) ended, we've got the Star Sports HD channel added in no time

thats bcoz some cable operators (mostly in villages or very outside towns) relay channels using dth connection which is called piracy, instead of getting encoder boxes fpr diff channnels to relay signals ,they dont tell channels about anything and whatever payment a subscriber pays,it directly goes into pocket of cable operator, nothing goes to concerned channel or goverment. earlier this happened in cities too but as dth operators have logos and fingerprinting codes appearing every 15 minutes, in cities this has diminished , also alertness from dth operators is cities is more. pre 2007 Tata Sky did not have logo on many channels and then they had to install it many started pirating the signals
