Excitel Broadband Reviews

Just got installed here is what iam getting, iam on the 799 plan @20 Mbps

@nghrd, @sksingh - it will be unreliable the only question is to what extent? Infact any ISP with wires hanging from trees, poles, rooftops is bound to have problems, i wont disconnect my airtel because of this reason and would advise people to retain their underground ADSL connections if they can. Ofcourse even underground connections can also be unreliable but rationale dictates that a wire underground will be inherently less prone to cuts, loose connections, and other problems. Moreover apart from wiring these ISP's dont use standard equipment either viz. sub-standard switches, routers, and some dont even have power backup which further contributes to their lacklustre service.

Having experienced hotwire back in 2003 i very well know how these ISP's function, it was just that i was bored with Airtel for 9 odd years now that i thought i might try out something just for the heck for it, the fact that its prepaid means that i can just try it for one month and then kiss goodbye after that.

Lolz !! just got connected and suffered a downtime as well, lasted about 15 mins, called up the local guy and he said the switch to which you are connected has gone bad and needs replacement. Now the net is back on, dont know if the switch was replaced or restarted.

BTW getting 24 Mbps or 3 MBPS on torrents !!

I stayed with MTNL for almost 20 years + VSNL (also through MTNL LL).....

My present experience with Excitel is 1000 times better than MTNL.... in terms of reliability, downtimes & speed etc.... my downtimes times are only at power outages (my router is not on inverter)...... and last I checked router was on for last 25 days( good work from AAP).....

Yea, same thing suffered with MTNL from 2013, had to pay 4200 per month for 4Mbps Unlimited which often goes unstable due to noise, then got Denboomband, very reliable even more so than excitel however being a heavy user, I went through 100GB Cap within 10Days, then I got excitel, it is kinda best of both worlds, reliable but less so than Den had few downtimes and now I'm having few issues of disconnections, probably due to interference during day time but speeds are fantastic and no FUP is a godsend.

Only 8 days after the installation, I started suffering from packet loss and frequent downtime. Not happy with their service.
5th day from installation, ethernet wire broke due to entanglement from a passing truck. Yes, wire is stretched to around 350m. Already told the LCO to install ONT router inside our apartment complex but no action is taken. I guess I'll renew my ACT Fibernet from now for they had consistent up/down speeds with 0% packet loss and suffered no downtime at all. Excitel must audit their LCO or else no loyal customers.

is excitel new in your area? because i faced a lot of downtime during the first 10-15 days. but it got pretty stable after that.

@Sushubh Don't know but if you read my edited review, I think it is because of the flimsy CAT5e used, its stretching to limits and unprofessional installation which may be the cause. I've already lost hope with my LCO as they are more like sarkaari babus with almost 0 knowledge about packet loss. Also took ₹1000 (200+800) at the time of installation.

Edit: Packet loss is not due to the quality of wire used but problem at their LCO. Read more here: Buffering and packet loss on Excitel

just got it installed today and so far so good..speeds of 20 mbps as promised...
i have one little problem..its working direct not through wifi which already has mtnl running
i have Netgear d500 which serves both modem n wifi router purpose
i cant seem to connect to excitel using it..
please anyone help...i wonder if this adsl2+ router is even compatible with direct cable net of excitel..
i also have another old wifi router of netgear wgrv7...wonder wud that work direct or do i need to buy a separate cable modem

@siddharth248 i dont think it will work on ADSL/wifi router combo devices, but it will work on standalone wifi routers which dont have ADSL modems built into them.

As fas as my connection is concerned, its working decently, speeds most of the times are as promised ie 20 Mbps, no major packet loss, its been down 4 times until now ie in a period of 11 days.
