I think tags, if possible, should be enabled for thread starter. This could also help when you are searching based on tags.

No one use it properly. It was enabled here for years.

Chances of it being abused are higher than being used efficiently.

Abuse is a harsh word. It's just too hard to use properly. Forum has 57000 tags. Majority of them probably entered by me. But most of them a just random stuff with just single thread associated with it.

Similar threads box is usually pretty darn accurate and search is also quite nice now so tags are not that useful.
