Is post count equivalent to messages? Also why specifically 500?
Also you could do something like : only users having posts more than 500 can either reply or post anything on those threads but let the threads remain visible for all users and restrict them for guests but that might reduce new user registrations.
I mean has the user registration count reduced after you made those threads private or increased?
I am just trying to understand the reason for restricting it for users having posts less than 500. Are you like trying to encourage users to post more but then no where was this mentioned that certain threads are being restricted.

See, you are missing the point. News section is not the core subject of this forum. People landing on this forum through search and other platforms are not here to discuss news or politics. So, the section does not reduce the usability of the forum for anyone.
The reason it is hidden is the current state of this country. Some of the threads are old and have very strong language that can put the people posting those messages in trouble. No one has time to go through all their posts and remove any keywords or language that might put me as the operator of this site or them in trouble. So, the only options available to me is to either get rid of everything by deleting it or just keep it locked up for people who have been here for more than a while and are unlikely to be the kind of folks who might well you should be able to understand.
