Instead of view more it shows empty element of this site. Probably it hides the button if there are no newer posts left to read. Who knows.

That is the truncated search bar on mobile. It appears fine on desktop. Probably CSS quirk.

It occurs when there are centain threads are hidden from you and there are updates on those threads. I see this on desktop as well.
