I would stay away from editing theme settings. I plan to add a new theme in the coming days which might work better for you. And I cannot change XenForo behavior wrt Alerts panel. You can customize the behaviour here: https://broadband.forum/account/alert-preferences

Yes. And you are not notified of further posts. Now don't know how xenforo calculates the unread and read but due to this I didn't get any alert in the morning for several threads like the offtopic one and even this one.
