if i have to revert back to the older version of the database. ipb support has not responded for the last 12 hours or so. just found out that creation of new account also results in a sql error.

Actually, I did not get you... when you say old DB.. and hence my quey, which x720 translated

Might have managed to fix the problem. Time would tell. Still need to test out new user registration because that is where all the problems were happening.
