shared hosting does not necessarily mean crappy hosting. it is running on a litespeed server optimized for xenforo forums. of course it sucks in comparison to local hosting because the server is now based in usa. but otherwise, it can handle any spikes just fine.
That's true. But things are quite different now. Servers are more powerful than ever before so random spikes do not generally hurt you. But this is the reason why I stayed away from shared hosting accounts from popular service providers like Dreamhost or Bluehost. I took the services from a guy who runs his own business in USA. He takes clients from XenForo forum (his website is kind of under construction). His hosting is focused on XenForo forum owners. Plus he is running a couple of big boards (forums with more than a few lakh posts) so it is quite safe choice. If I consume more resources than he has allocated me, he would himself suggest me what I should do. Since I have switched over, the load has been much below levels that would bother him so it's turning out to be quite nice. Instead of paying Rs. 400 per day that I was paying before, I am now paying around Rs. 50 per day.
Few days back I was facing issue on Chrome where I had to log in by entering password every time I opened forum. I have saved password for forum, so when I click bookmark, I am directly logged in. But issue not observed now for last 1-2 days.
