all of this reminds me of "shinning cable" from the 2014 movie sonali cable
in the movie anupam kher is a big ISP and starts buying out every little ISP in Mumbai and where people once took connections from LCOs

Once the LCO is bought then the original owners are kicked out, and customers are given shitty services lol

man idk how long will my local isp continue, they are dominating this place for last 20 years now and have a history to doing "daga giri" to airtel ,hathway or any operator trying to enter wherever they operate

yep yep and they somehow seem to be catching up all the time to whatever new shi jio and airtel are doing

granted they dont have online payment support and u always need to talk to someone on whatsapp for anything

if you wanna see real dadagiri look for gated community ISPs. I'm currently in Hyderabad in a gated community and they only have one ISP for the whole community. It's some Pioneer Elabs broadband never heard of it. I have been calling them to get ipv6 address they saying "is ipv5 working?". Pretty much non existant support clearly thriving on no competition from outside markets.

@Rhishav its very true because of many reasons like housing societies charge normal player, but political connections and negative profile helps in expanding and laying underground fiber moreover 26% of tax encourages them further to collect in cash to avoid it. as per my understanding local players are good for this sector as they optimize cost. Jio and Airtel can only survive with bundled services in broadband sector, also they can bring in new tech to revolutionize market which will be later adopted by LCO(After prices drop considerably).
