i went through Resnick halliday, on Page 921, you'll see there is a mention of an experiment where they tried to accelerate electrons as much as possible and they could do it upto 0.99999999995 times the velocity of light. no matter how much energy they supply the electron didnt seem to want to go faster than light.
the only particle that does go that fast is neutrinos, they are massless (almost). so anything that has mass wont go beyond .

also apart from Hafele-Keating there is another experiment that proves time dilation, its decay of muons at relativistic speeds and at lower speeds.
for stationary muon it takes 2.2 micro seconds to decay. for muon moving at 0.9994c the time taken is 28.87 micro seconds.

also more innovations we need are : cold fusion reactors, room temperature super conductors.

more recent innovations : maglev trains, also as GPS use relativity which is a relatively new concept, GPS systems and aircraft navigations can b considered as new innovations. 3d touch screens, i.e. touch screen that sense depth, mp3 technology.

ahh the double slit experiment is awesome,... we have studied in 12th ki that rays of light interefere with each other cause they behave as waves.
now if u pass rays of electrons, they also behave as waves and interfere with each other.

but when just 1 single electron is passed through the slits, it still manages to interfere with itself.https://broadband.forum/image/vnd.microsoft.icon;base64,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%3D%3Dhttps://www.google.com/favicon.icohttps://broadband.forum/image/png;base64,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https://ff.duckduckgo.com/favicon.ico

Planes travel faster or go higher (rockets) but we havent found a way to actually teleport anything/anyone.

Teleportation is impossible for objects the size of humans. For the proof, see this link:
Does the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle make human teleportation impossible? - Page 2

We create robots and all, add artifical intelligence. A common men wud see this is as WOW this is intelligent robot but in real world we all know its still dumb. It will only do what it is programmed to do and based on whatever scenarios has been fed in it. It wont really have HUMAN like brain. (e.g i-robot scene of robot NOT saving a baby). Will we be able to give REAL intelligence?

Have you ever watched the Terminator series?

Computers become faster and smaller with 32bit upgrade to 64bit with more instruction set. Again basically enhancements.

Search howstuffworks.com. You will notice something that will shock you.. computers that run on DNA. If possible,(it has been done) it will not be just an enhancement.

Will we ever be able to make an engine that runs purely on water or something new?

You can convert water to hydrogen by hydrolysis, fill it in tanks and use as hydrogen powered vehicles. For details google H-racer.

We transplant body parts, we may in future be able to transplant brain/heart.. that wud be enhancement to current technology. But will we be able to transplant a soul from dying body to other body OR preserve a soul somewhere till a dying body is repaired to be reused?

In scientific language, what is a soul? It is a set of code fed into the human brain. The day we can decrypt the signals sent from the brain, we can practically transfer a soul from one body to another. But even if we achieve that tech, we'll need a computer able to transmit data at 12 Petabytes a second.

We have unit of measurement for light and sound. Will we ever be able to give unit of measurement to taste and smell and digitally store it and reproduce it? I know there is work in progress, but i wud still call that headless thing and not anything really very concrete.

Taste and Smell are basically sensory forms of the minute particles that come in contact with the nerves of the tongue and nose. It isn't hard to reproduce, it is so abundantly available anywhere that we don't need to digitally store it, and otherwise, as far as chemistry is concerned, it isn't possible to do it.

X-rays / Laser etc..there are improvements in that too but will we have something else? Like finding something faster than light and then using it as medium?

Scientists do believe that particles may exist which can move faster than the speed of light. But the main problem is that they can never be slowed down to speed less than c (the speed of light) according to the principle of relativity. These particles are called as 'tachyons.' You'll be surprised to know that the concept of tachyons was mooted by an Indian scientist S. Sudarshan.

Will we really have ability to go in past or future?

If you try to go in the future, you can, but that is a huge personal loss in my opinion. If we build a ship which can go at a speed of 240,000 kilometers a second (0.8c) and go 8 light years far and return to earth, you have by all practical purposes gone 8 years ahead in the future, a person who is exactly as old as you will be 8 years older than you. But in that case, the people will have aged 20 years and you'll have permanently wasted 12 years of your life, and to be able to go in the past you need to go at a similar negative speed, and have you ever heard of that? The only concept of negative speed is going at a equal amount of speed in the opposite direction, which will yield the same output.

What abt invisibility? Will we really be able to make our refraction as 1? (i.e. without using mirroring tricks)

As you will notice when you watch the movie Fantastic Four, the girl is able to be invisible by bending light around a particular thing, and the light does not strike the thing, goes right through. This is basically impossible, because for the diffraction(bending) to occur, the width of the thing should be of the order of the wavelength of the light rays, and that for visible light to occur, should be around 0.5 micrometer, or 2 millionths of a meter. So the only viable answer could be diffraction of light, and that is also only possible for super-thin objects.

----------

the only particle that does go that fast is neutrinos, they are massless (almost). so anything that has mass wont go beyond .

Photons are such particles too, they have zero rest mass. Unless you have zero rest mass, you'll reach infinite relativistic mass if you go with the speed of light, and that's impossible by all sane standards.

^^ ah resnick halliday..that red monster, not much use for syllabus purposes but was always recommended for reference and knowledge purposes. has been 5-6 years since i saw it last.
coming to double slit expt. it has nothing much to do with time travel etc. but throws open a new world of quantum mechanics.

U have shared some really interesting info dude!!And as i & amish were speculating without knowing - there is something that there may b something that can go at a speed more than c!!

It is just a forum! where is the proof?

well there is nothing like go in opposite direction. It is opposite for u and ur brain not for space time. past is not so easy as future, unfortunately.

That's just 'a' way not 'the' way. There can be other methods too.

There is no evidence that tachyons existx.Relativity doesn't say that nothing can go faster than light. It says that any object which has a velocity lower than that of light will never be able to go as fast as or faster than light. It doesn't kill the possibility that there might be objects that already have a velocity higher than that of light.

It is only said that tachyons can travel at a relative speed of more than c but these particles will then never be able to be slowed down to speeds less than c.

That's what I'm saying. Those objects are nothing but tachyons (if they do exist).

uhmm,.. as for photons they are "quanta" of light or particles of light itself, its rather obvious they travel at velocity of light. very sleepy now, will look into other things later

Hmm, so tachyons is also figment of someone's imagination.First they say nothing can be faster than light.Faster speed more energy. Then they say Techyon can be faster than light. Then they say Techyon cant ever go SLOWER than light.Energy reduces, Techyon speed increases!Techyon can help to communicate with past! And then this theory is used to counter my question :D
