because this is the kind of document sellers require here in india to get a replacement issued from the company?

i mean sellers here do not replace your handset like in the western market if there are minor issues right? how are you going to proceed with it?

a malfunctioning sensor means that the handset probably had manufacturing issues. htc service center guys issued the document with no questions asked.

the document clearly states that they did not attempt to repair the problem on company's request. from what i see, doa here is just a formality to enable the seller to get a replacement unit from the company. nothing more.

----------

i have been very clear in my communications with the service center and the seller that the problems are not easily reproducible. what am i supposed to do if the sensor keeps on glowing up randomly? live with it?

----------

also. it was only on the second trip that i was able to show them the glowing sensor. my first visit was wasted because the sensor did not glow and the htc guys said that they could not do anything without first seeing the problem. :|

Consider yourself extremely lucky to get DOA from HTC in this case. :)For other phones, they have not issued it for far worse problems like motherboard not working (So phone dead completely) and insisted on replacing the part, which they did after a month.Have come across many such horror stories for HTC service in India.

On a lighter note,

We would like to inform you that as per the two links which you have sent us regarding the defect we will try to sort out those two issues. If the issue is not resolved we will replace you with a brand new product.

well another member on the forum got his One V replaced after it stopped working after a day or two of usage. another member got his flyer replaced because of similar problems. of course, my problem in comparison was pretty minor. and probably it was not a problem at all. just a misbehaving sensor. but from my point of view... i tried to do what was justified. that is... ask for a replacement. if the service center people were not going to cooperate, i would have contacted the company directly. times have changed. you do not have only the service center people to deal with anymore. the amount of marketing they are doing with their one series... replacing a couple of handsets with minor issues should not be a big deal for a company like HTC.

video distortion is a popular problem that hopefully get resolved in this update.

Hopefully this will solve a lot of problems.

apparently, chromamaniac is troubled with dumb, non responsive sales channel. guy who has spoken to chromainiac does not know DOA certification given by company or may be he is not trained to handle such after sales queries. nothing much can be done as many portals including flipkart starts business with half baked business stratigies. only way to teach them lesson is strong Consumer forum rules which unfortunatly our country does not have.

yeah that must be the stupid "standard" language email they would have sent to chromy..........otherwise DOA means just replace the freaking electronic item:biggrin:

that is what i was imagining when i ask for bids for the replacement unit :P someone take this damn phone from my hands please :P
