I think Tata Sky should go 4 this type of packages which will rock their business...1-Rs.100 as a monthly rate which allows u to watch all fta channels(including their service charges also).2-than all channel should be seprated in 3 buckets which will be like nonpremium, premium and extra premium. Non premium channel charge is rs 3 per channel. Premium ch charge is rs 5 per ch. And extra premium ch charge rs. 7 per ch.3-minimum 20 ch must be selected 4m any buckets.4-Now list@ext. pre. Ch.@ Star plus, one, Sony, max, zee, star world, discovery, ngo,imagine,9x,espn,ss,sc,tensport.@Premium ch.@ Zee cinema, zee cafe, star movies, hbo, axn, star gold, utv movies, world movies, bindas, animal planet, bbc entertainment, neo,and all active service,@non pre. Ch.@ Sahara one, sab tv, m tv, chnl v, all cartoon ch. (Per ch. 3rs.) all regional which is paid,(Per ch. 3rs.)and all other paid ch.5-And showcase charges 20 rs 4 old movies25 rs 4 eng old movies35 rs 4 semi old movies45 rs 4 recently blockbuster movies(6-8 months old)200 rs 4 new movies(only two weeks old)by this type of package we can only pay what we watch. I KNOW ITS LIKE DAY DREMING BUT IF WE HAVE JUST IMAGINEEvery ones suggestion are requirue

I wish they replace vikram kaushik with you so that you can roll out the above mentioned and keep the rates competetive to Cable .

I beleive only the Showcase pricing is a Bit Pricey, for me Rs 20 for Old Movies (English or Hindi) , because most of the movies would have been on some or the other channel already & 100 rupees for a New movie (not more then two weeks old) Sabir

Ya u r right bt as a coustmer. Bcoz u want minimum rent. See above dream package if u take all the avlbl ch it cost u more than 300 which we r paying right now. Bt who want to watch less ch. And selected ch. They will benifited by this package. And u told about new movies it must be telecast after 1 month of realese.(i should change that 2 weeks line) OtherWISE who will going to multiplexes and theater. And charge rs. 200 is ok coz it cost only 1 multiplex ticket with access of your full family to watch movies.

All guys, put forward ur suggestions for Package and Pricing... :) we can live in the Dream world.... :D

Unlimited viewing for Rs. 400 - GE, music, sports, education, movies, all programmes available on demand mode. We have UL in broadband, why not in DTH?

HAHA RS 200 for new movie.Forget it, they don't want to make a loss.Go to Satyam Cinema's on Friday for new release film, it costs Rs200 so forget about watching a 2 week new film on TV that too if 10 ppl are watching it on TV for Rs200 then the film-makers wont make the 2000RS they would hve if 10 ppl went to the cinema. Also if they start showing films on TV so early ppl will record it onto a DVD using a recorder and this leads to Piracy. So forget bout that. The other idea's are pretty good but most likely Tata Sky will make less money if they do this.Remember they are here to make money first!ESPN and Star Sports for 14RS forget it,I think ESS charges Tata Sky Rs40 itself or was it Rs50 i dont remember, so I doubt they will make a Rs 26 loss to show you TV.lol

For movies there are 3 models.
1. Distributors invest in the film production and get the rights for screening.
2. Producers sell/auction the picture prior to release.
3. There is a revenue sharing arrangement between the distributor/theatre and producer.

The first two are risky, whereas the the third is risk free. Multiplex operators operate on the third model, and charge any rate between 60 and 250, depending on the popularity, time of show and revenue expected. In fact night time shows are twice more expensive than day shows; especially a show at 9 am will cost Rs 50 or so. Anyway upto 50% goes in entertainment taxes.

There are many intermediaries to pad up the cost. If a new movie is shoen on DTH, only the producer and the dth are involved; hence customer can be charged less.

Piracy is an entirely different matter. It will thrive whenever there is a big difference in prices. I believe, with a new movies DVD costing over Rs. 500, more will watch on DTH if the rates are attractive for new movies - say under 30.

Watching movie in a multiplex is an experience in itself and one will not get it with home watching.

Showig new movies for 30 or less is a very viable move. All the people I have checked with said that they will watch Kuselan at home if availble on DTH
