So India managed to win series outside India after many years, in Sri Lanka.
Kohli's tactics seems to be working as of now.

It was more due to Lanka being a weaker team now, with Mahela out, Sanga out of touch & going out. Dilshan not playing. Stubborn crease occupiers like Samaraweera & P Jayawardene gone. Just 2-3 players are playing well consistently like Matthews, Herath and maybe occasional shows from Chandimal, Thirammane etc..

Kohli needs to prove this against stronger teams. Even dhoni found it difficult outside India. But it was a great hard fought test series. Thats why Test cricket is still great. I know people hate Ishant , I loved the way he was acting like a maniac and still bowling so well. Excellent aggression. But even after India winning , Sanga the great retired and that overshadows it all.
