that is the whole point. if he is past his prime, he 'should' retire gracefully. he has already lost the pepsi deal. he would lose more if he retires now. he is just stretching something that is already overstretched. as for the test today. ponting lacks the bowling attack so he had to play it safe. you do not want to end up losing a test when you scored 400+ runs in the first inning!

i think he declared well on time.btw match is not over yet. its going on. atleast 14 overs left provided light is good and captains dont agree on a draw

india would have done the same. played it safely. that is why i do not like the matches between india and australia. i prefer australia and england matches :)

Oh god please not again i felt only the 2005 ashes was good between Australia and England apart from that it was all one sided series between them for the past 15 years i believe......more recently Ind - Aus Test matches are much much better that Eng - Aus series but i am hoping that the next ashes will be good under Kevin Peterson and i believe that Eng will win that Ashes. From now on i believe now Australia might suffer in bowling department.........

I still believe that he played very well in ODI's but he was pathetic in Test Matches........I hope you are aware that because of sachin only we won the Tri Series in Aus recently.........:cool2:

This two shud stick to wicket else one wicket and there cud be huge collapse as it has happened many a times.

MOM mostly wud go to Hussey.

Match ended in a draw and as i predicted Zaheer got MOM:thumb::dance:........

I think it was a good performance by India as on Day 3 i thought india will loose this test match spl Kudos to Zaheer and Harbajhan for their batting effort as because of them only we were able to save this test match:cool2:

well, yeah ashes are pretty boring. At least we cud expect some drama in ind-aus series.

Ganguly made 7000runs today, but what i didnt like is the way he played last 3 overs even after over a decade of experience, he took an illogical risk.i have no intention to criticize him, but there needs to be a common sense atleast when u r considered most successful indian captain.tendulkar got out and ishant sharma came in as night watchman. and 3 overs were left. what ganguly did:1st over, its Lee, 1st ball.. take single and let sharma play 5 balls.luckily sharma survived.2nd over, its siddle, 3rd ball.. take single and let sharma play 3 balls.sharma again survived3rd over, its lee again, 1st ball... take single and let sharma play 5ballsisnt this stupidity? why was night watchman sent? to survive and support as much as he can and not to play as many balls.sharma didnt get out but what if he had got out, india wud be 6 wkts down and pressure on dhoni for 2 overs and then again tomorrow.anyway... just my view.

tendulkar got out and ishant sharma came in night watchman. and 3 overs were left. what ganguly did:
1st over, its Lee, 1st ball.. take single and let sharma play 5 balls.
luckily sharma survived.

2nd over, its siddle, 3rd ball.. take single and let sharma play 3 balls.
sharma again survived

3rd over, its lee again, 1st ball... take single and let sharma play 5balls

isnt this stupidity? why was night watchman sent? to survive and support as much as he can and not to play as many balls.

sharma didnt get out but what if he had got out, india wud be 6 wkts down and pressure on dhoni and others for 2 overs and then again tomorrow.

anyway... just my view.

My View is Ganguly had confidence that Ishanth will play out the overs without any problem.. Think in this way..

the most important thing at that point was Ganguly had to stay at stumps on day 1.. thats why he gave strike to Ishant Sharma.. Instead of losing Ganguly , losing Ishant sharma is acceptable from Team's point of view...btw, Congrats to Sachin... He played well today... and also congrats to Ganguly for his 7000 runs mark...

well, congrats to Ganguly to reach 7000 Run mark..dravid looked in great form today..hope that he comes good in the next matches..Sachin like usual played with a great strike rate.:thumb:
