IPv6 Enabled But Doesn't Work?

@Chip it's not a question about trust. The screenshots, if you provide them, could help other BSNL FTTH customers take up the matter with their local LCO or BSNL Office.
It is difficult to communicate/explain, and images help a lot.
BSNL has deployed IPv6 on the BNG and NIB. It needs to be properly configured by BSNL Babus, who are Government employees.

Well dude, I didn't appreciate the sniping in your message. U don't seem to believe it when I say i get a v6 address in Maharashtra. And you want screenshots when I am not sure what that does to help your case vis a vis IPv6. BSNL's roll out is still work in progress in my opinion and you need to have patience. The v6 address is from NIB while the v4 is from BSNL. So obviously there's some type of configuration to be done before it will work properly.

@alap4m bro trust me, those BSNL babus are going to do diddly squat when it comes to progressing the roll out on the basis of screenshots. And it will be done from Tier 1 to smaller cities in progression as it probably relates to larger cities having more customers than smaller ones. Numbers matter. For e.g. the Mumbai/Pune region accounts would account for a majority of the connections in MH followed by probably Nagpur, Kolhapur, Nashik etc. Not sure which city you are in though.

Be patient guys, trust me v6 isn't going to change your user experience if at all. I have been getting a static v6 address (free) on Tata Play Fibre since the day I got it some years back. It holds no shine for me at least.

PS - my BSNL connection got a v6 only a few months back.

@Chip , this screenshot would've helped me a lot coz it took so much effort from my side to just make a point that IPv6 is working in Maharashtra.

BSNL (my district office) was unwilling to accept the fact that IPv6 even works in Maharashtra.

Hope you understand my point. It was not to offend you but to make BSNL work on IPv6 without allowing them to make any excuses.

@!!..PD..!! Bhai no offence taken, I am cool Anyways, there are 2 points I am trying to make here:

a) It doesn't make a difference to your internet experience
b) BSNL is the last of the major ISPs to roll this out and given they're Govt. babus you need to have patience and lots of it. Don't expect too much from these laggards.

The one and only one thing I liked was my LCO being more responsive to my requests than any normal BSNL employee would ever be. And Rs 100 for a 40 Mbps upgrade from 60 to 100 Mbps; That's a good deal in my opinion and it has made me rethink my wish to give up the connection.

These guys are a Titan who is sleeping. All they need to do is up their customer friendliness and give VFM plans (not too much profitability pressure, remember?) and trust me the janta will flock to them. I have no particular love for Airtel, Tata, You BB etc etc. It's just a practical decision.

I used BSNL ADSL for 8-9 years in the 2000s and while the customer service was bad the speeds were good. Of course 20 years later things are very different.

@Chip it's not the same here. During ADSL my Local exchange was nice enough to resolve speed/connectivity issues (copper issues) on the same day or very next day.

Now with FTTH, My LCO holds Zero knowledge over how the connection even works. All he knows is to check power and see if the LOS is blinking red.

My every complaint, be it latency or speed issues are handled by Local BSNL exchange and the JTO always sends the complaint to the respective department with the screenshots so that it gets resolved ASAP.

Even for IPv6, He sent all the screenshots to my District Head Office and the people there were saying that "IPv6 is not available in MH".

If only I had a screenshot which shows it works in MH.

It's been 4 months and today, I finally made them accept that IPv6 works in Maharashtra and It needs to work for me as well.

They're finally willing to work on it and for the first time they asked me my current configuration, device info, mac address and stuff to troubleshoot.

I would've really appreciated your help when I made a post here asking about IPv6 in MH where I remember you talked about it working for you but didn't provide me a screenshot or anything that could help me. That time too I didn't say that you're lying or I need proof to accept that it works for you. Just a screenshot was needed to make BSNL (my district) believe that it works.

Anyways its all in the past and I hope that they fix it. If it's done and starts working I'll share the details with you @alap4m

Though I request you to not expect too much after sharing that with those BSNL people. They are simply lazy and but can check with their counterparts in BSNL Pune or Mumbai to verify if it is working or not.

Again, please don't boil your blood on something you have no control over.

PS - I need to add, the LCO has ZERO control over v6 deployment etc. it's all done in the NOC. LCOs are only responsible for last mile (or KM) connectivity and basic tech support to the customer. An example is the plan change my LCO said he'd do for me.
