Laptop in the price range of Rs. 50000-60000

Preferably between 40-50K but budget can be extended to Rs. 60000. No Apple (compromise in this price range). Requirement is apps like CorelDraw and Photoshop. 1080p display. Reasonable battery life. Compact package.

battery life is insanely bad on these machines!

Most high end Laptops come with powerful inbuilt Graphic cards. That is a significant drain on Battery times. And to run High end Laptops for best performance, its better to run them while plugged to main power source instead of battery.

the actual problem is that before haswell these laptops included 6 or 8 cell batteries. after haswell they started using 4 cell batteries to cut costs. haswell was launched by intel with promise of 10 hours battery life on laptops. apparently only Apple and some ultrabook models priced badly from PC makers now ship with larger battery that actually ends up offering somewhere close to 10 hours of battery life.

But that is CPU architecture to make CPU's more efficient and less power consuming. Its a natural process in this industry, new architecture CPU's are getting more and more efficient with time.

A high end Laptop also include GPU (Nvidia/ATI) which also consumes significant power.
