I have an MTNL Triband connection that I have been using in bridged mode. i.e. I dial up a connection from my PC when I need to connect.I have a Linksys wi-fi router that I want to use to distribute my internet over wifi in my house. Switching to PPPoE from bridge mode is not an option. Since I have two ethernet ports on my PC, I have also tried using Internet Connection Sharing from Microsoft, but that is, in short, epic fail. :(Here's the problem I am facing:Option 1) GLB 502T [MTNLTriband]ADSL >>> Linksys [wifi] router >>> PCHere, if I connect my wifi router like shown above, I am unable to dial the connection.Option 2)GLB 502T [MTNL Triband] ADSL >>> PC >>> Linksys [Wifi] routerHere, internet connection sharing just gets too messy and I can't even begin to understand where to start troubleshooting. Can someone please help me with this setup? Let me know if you need to know any extra information about my current settings...

this is how u can use wifi1st configure ur D-Link modem with PPPoE mode. 2nd I think in order to connect ur Linksys wifi router to ur Dlink modem u need a cross over ethernet cable. some wifi routers are capable detecting which type of ehternet cable u using & automatically configure themselves ofr the cable. if urs insnt, try usign both crossover & straight. then configure ur Linksys wifi router with a static ip & its gateway as the ip address of the Dlink modem.now ur can connect ur PC to the linksys router through wifi or wire mode which ever u prefer.in order to configure ur wifi router make sure u assign the ip adresses properlysuppose if ur Dlink modem ip is 192.168.1.1 then assign 192.168.1.2 for ur linksys wifi router.also on ur pc, let it assign ip automatically if it doesnt work than assign manually & put gateway ip as the ip of dlink modem.

i doubt it will work with bridge mode on ADSL router & option 1.if it does it will be a very complicated & messy procedure. ur best shot of getting wifi working is with option 1 & PPPoE on ADSL router.option 2 is messy & u 'll hv to keep ur pc on for using wifi even if u dont want to use PC.

Like I had stated, I don't want to use regular PPPoE. I *WANT* to use bridged more no matter what. As for the other thing, my PC is always on 24/7. I run a server on my PC. :)Is there any way to make my wifi router dial the pppoe connection on it's own? I have DD-WRT on it. That lets me execute just about any commands on it I need to.

since u dont want PPPoE mode on ADSL router try this.put the ADSL router in Bridge mode. configure it to relay PPPoE. so dat the wifi router connected can dial the PPPoe connection. enable DhCP server on the ADSL router in the following mannerADSL router IP ---> 192.168.X.1DHCP server starting ip ---> 192.168.X.2ending ip -----> 192.168.X.254for configuring the wifi routerconfigure its PPPoE.configure its lan settings.change the default ip of wifi router to 192.168.X.2put its gateway as 192.168.X.1change the DHCP server settings to starting ip ------> 192.168.X.3ending ip -------> 192.168.X.254the above shud work. u still might hv to tweak some settigns & play with ip address settings. if it works let me kno wat u did.

I can't figure out how to set up a PPPoE Relay. The lan settings page only lets me set up a DHCP server, or a Specify a Relay Server IP. But I have a feeling this is not what I'm looking for...

I'll try setting up the other settings and see if it's making any difference for me...

----------

Just tried it. Here's my configuration settings, if it helps.

Unless someone can figure out how to make my router dial a PPPoE connection, or let my machine dial it through the router, I don't see how it's gonna work. :(

Any Other Suggestions?

P.S. Are you familiar with DD WRT firmware for routers?

do the following in ur ADSL router

set the ip address to be obtained automatically on the pg which u have attached the screenshot.
also on the same pg try using options Enable DHCP relay or Server & Relay off
dont not enable DHCP server on ur router. i think it will create problems on ur router to make the bridge connection if u do.

on the LAN IP settings page
set the ip address of the router as 192.168.X.1

test the above settings 1st with ur computer to check if the ADSL router is properly configured to bridge mode. if it is working then attach ur Wifi router to check if ti is working with it.

if the above settigns dont work try the following link for settign bridge mode
Dlink bridge mode setup

ur wifi router settings look proper. u can try putting MTNL DNS server ip on the pg of the 2nd screenshot. in Static DNS 1 & DNS 2

My Router is currently working with bridged mode. I have tried with obtain IP automatically. Didn't work. I specified a PPP IP address. Didn't work.I have tried it with server & Relay off. Doesn't work. I tried specifying relay IP as the MTNL DHCP server. Didn't work.Specified relay IP as 192.168.1.1 i.e. local IP of my ADSL router. Didn't work.I always do my configurations with a static IP for the router. All 4 above conditions were tested once with static IP, and once with acquiring an ip from my ADSL modem. It all seems pointless.I'm gonna try looking at internet connection sharing when I get back home now. Might as well put the Two ethernet ports I have to *some* use. :)Thank you for your prompt reply, and any more help will be greatly appreciated.

i think we are makin some mistake by playin with some individual setting.i would suggest make a clean settings by 1st resetting both ADSL & Wifi routers to factory settings.follow the guide in D-Link bridge mode setting link i gave in the earlier reply to setup bridge mode or follow the tutorial in this forum by krish_88 in sticky threads by connecting the PC directly to the modem. dont change ny settings on ny page once its been reset to factory settings. use the wizard to make the settings as shown in the bridge mode guide.once the bridge mode is workin then connect the wifi router to ADSL modem & then reset the wifi router to factory settings. once u reset it on & off the wifi router twice b4 u make ny changes.also to make the wifi router dial PPPoE, use the wizard to make the settings first. if the wizard doesnt work then try making the settigns on the individual pages.
